help on upgrading a computer?
I have a acer Am1610-u1201A my friend is giving aways his parts and he is giving me a Phenom II x4 955, MSI 880GM-E41 AMD mobo, 550 watt power supply, and 4gb ddr3 memory. I was wondering if a 1.5 gb/s HDD is compatible with a 3Gb/s motherboard? i already have a optical drive and card reader in my acer case...so is it possible to upgrade my acer with these parts? thank you :)

Yes, SATA II ports are backwards-compatible with SATA I devices. Your hdd will work just fine.

Maybe. Some name brand computers use very specific cases that do not conform to the normal "build your own Computer" parts. Dell is one specific brand that you cannot upgrade the motherboard in.
In looking at the pictures on Newegg at this case, yes, you should be able to upgrade the parts in this case with the other parts. Yes, Sata 2 is backwards compatable with sata 1.
good luck
