Which would be the best engineering major, or should I even change my major?

I am currently going to a community college, but am transferring to UK or WVU Tech next semester not sure which yet, and want to major in engineering. I am currently in accounting and find it very boring and easy, plus I stupidly thought it involved math when I picked a major. I have it narrowed down to three engineering majors, Chemical, Electrical, and Computer. I am very good at math and pretty good on computers. I have always been interested in chemistry as well as most astronomical sciences. Anyway, which would be the best for someone looking to deal with mostly math or should I just stick with accounting and tough it out.

I am also an electrical engineer and my husband is a mechanical engineer.

You should take an intro to engineering class that offers a bit from each. Choose what you are interested in, not what makes more money. By its nature, engineers have to be very good at math and (hopefully) with computers. If you are interested in chemistry, you could consider chemical engineering or even environmental engineering. I wouldn't go with aerospace engineering because the jobs just aren't there and I don't expect that to change. And you will always be wondering when the next job lay-off will be. Electrical and mechanical engineering are stable fields. Engineering is an absolutely fun career to be in. Unless you are just absolutely in love with being a glorified bookkeeper, then I would stay far away from accounting. It's really a boring career, too.

PS. Ignore what the guy above says about engineering being difficult. It is easy if you study and are good at math.

I guess you should change your major as long as you find it boring

All engineering majors involve math, specially electrical engineering and these are some of the topics that may encounter if you applied to electrical engineering

linear algebra, differential equations, complex numbers, fourier analysis

I don't know much about chemical engineering but it is not all pure chemistry that would be a major in physics not engineering.

Also Electrical engineering isn't just mathematics there would be A LOT of physics and it's not an easy major.

I can't speak for ChemE, as I don't understand at all what they do, but I can tell you about EE and CE.

EE is a very diverse and math-intensive field. You'll learn about electronics, signal processing, wireless comm., semiconductors, E&M fields, etc. Depending on what you're specifically interested in, the math will range from Calc, to DiffEq, to Probability. Signal Processing and Microwaves could tie particularly well into astronomical sciences. A good understanding of computers is a must, as CAD is a very big part of EE now.

CE may even be more diverse, since every field requires the understanding of computers. You can do hardware architecture, low-level coding, security engineering, networking, wireless comm, signal processing. At most universities (and in industry) there is a lot of overlap between EE and CE. CE tends to use less math than EE, but it's still important. For instance, security engineering will involve a lot of discrete math and networking involves a lot of probability.

If you aren't happy in Accounting, you might as well switch, because if you don't like it now, it will only get worse.

    Good Luck!

its fairly effortless to pass out of engineering right into a widespread technological know-how, yet its fairly stressful any other way around. i could decide on engineering, exceedingly while you're solid with math and physics. dont hardship in case you may desire to take a available greater 365 days (while you're a fulltime scholar you may get all of it finished interior the common 4), having a bachelors in engineering would be properly worth it. as for the pay, 40 5-50,000 is on the low end of the spectrum. looking on which discipline you pick, you may make everywhere around the widespread 60-70k/365 days, or as much as one hundred+ in case you land an extremely solid activity with some thing like a chemical/petroleum engineering degree. in case you pick to not go the engineering path, you're able to do an utilized sciences degree. its not probable engineering in spite of if it is going to be comparable coursework.
