so being a christian what chapters in the bible can help me deal with my husbands addictions?
My husband and I both attend church re Wed & Sun. We have been saved baptized & are believers. But he continues to drink and now has started using pills again. A little background on us. Both of us are alcoholics and drug addicts. I no longer participate and have clean and sober 10 + yrs ( only thru GOD) he continues to struggle. He was heroin junky and went methadone (which he has been off of about 4yrs?) but continues to drink on occasion & now I have found pills of his. Of course off the street...hydros and even a couple Oxycontin. Of course the story is more drama than need be said . I know divorce is not what GOD has for us. If I decide to stay in this marriage can anyone suggest some scriptures to help me?
Thank all of you for answering my question and the wonderful scriptures to read. And a couple responses. He was disabled forever and did NOT work until recently, his addiction has not clobbered him bad enough (yet?) that it effects his job. And going to the Elders in our church is something I have considered just don't' know yet. You know the shame embarrassment & feeling of betraying him. So thru all of this I continue to pray for guidance. Thank you all again soooo much!

I would say the proverbs are for him but also approach the elders of your church and have them speak to him regarding accountability.
