How could Global Warming cause more rain and drought?
I hear AGW will cause more rain, BUT, it will also cause drought. I hear AGW will cause more heat, but, dont be surprised if we have some freak cold temperature streaks. Ya, the High Pressure over Asia last year that caused the killer heat waves was AGW. The alleged increased level of hurricanes is an outcome of AGW.
Ive looked through records from the past on Google and I found out these occurrences are normal.
Do we panic more now because we get information quicker and more biased because of the internet?
On a side note, I looked at James Hansens Wikipedia site. Even his own site makes him look like a shady character.
Brutus, take a look at his Wikipedia page and see for yourself. I do know Wikipedia is not the best source of info, so I take it with a grain of salt.
@Brutus, its interesting you brought up President Bush, do you think Im a Bush supporter?
Here ya' go. Scientists should never be politicians... thats a fact:
Andrew Freedman, an environmental journalist and columnist at the Washington Post, believes the American Meteorological Society erred in giving Hansen its 2009 Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal: "By citing his 'clear communication of climate science in the public arena,' they may have actually sanctioned his political advocacy. Such advocacy... threatens to paint the AMS as having a political agenda too." [89] Other AMS members have also criticized the award
Physicist Freeman Dyson is critical of Hansen's climate-change activism. "The person who is really responsible for this overestimate of global warming is Jim Hansen. He consistently exaggerates all the dangers... Hansen has turned his science into ideology.” [91] Dyson "doesn’t know what he’s talking about", Hansen responded. "He should first do his homework." [91] Dyson
@ Al... What?
@Brutus, I guess your opinion pretty much sums up a typical alarmist. You dont see the conflict of interest when scientists get involved in politics... especially something as politically heated as this topic...
@Vince, considereing every year since 2005 the hurricane season was predicted to be well above average but they were right at average... then last year the predictions were mixed, some high, some low, but, it was a high. Finally they got one right.
Eventually the predictions will be right.

It's doing both, among other things.
Global Warming is now known as Climate Disruption.

I do not believe that you can look at a single weather event and tie it directly to AGW. Weather happens, extreme weather happens and this will continue to be. I believe that more extreme weather events will occur and will do so with increased intensity and this will be directly related to AGW. There is enough scientific studies and evidence that support this line of reasoning.
What specifically does James Hansen's Wikipedia page say that makes him look like "a shady Character"?
DJ -I read the entire Wikipedia article. I did not read anything that would make him appear as being shading. Quite the contrary. What I read made the Bush administration appear to be shady when they edited a scientific study for public release. Perhaps you would be willing to point out the specific type in the article that supports your feelings on this?
**Added** I do not know your political affiliations, if any. I know even less about which politicians you like or dislike. You made the comment about the Wikipedia article showed that James Hansen may be "shady". I stated that I found no evidence of this in the article and that any "shadiness" I read was concerning the Bush administration. Nowhere did I state that Bush appeared to be shady. I ask again. Will you point out where James Hansen appears to be "shady" in the Wikipedia article?
James Hansen was not playing politician. He was defending himself and the science against politicians. How does this make one "shady"? Will you show me where your quotes were in the Wikipedia article on James Hansen? What you do offer as evidence as to his being "shady" is from two people's OPINIONS of James Hansen. Just how does any of this make James Hansen appear "shady"?
Andrew Freedman, as stated, is a journalist. We ALL know that the scientific knowledge of any journailist is far superior to that of any scientist. How foolish for me to believe otherwise!
Freeman Dyson, while being a noted physicist, has not studied global warming. When you want the best answers, go to the best in the field you want to know more about. I do not take my car for repairs to the best wahing machine repairman in town.

the weather patterns and intensity will be changing with climate. you just hope that your location will be fine. Any one weather event cannot be attributed to climate. It's like a class average, if it goes up, there are a few students that score really high.
As for your analysis by google, it is limited. A more complete analysis was published in Nature.

It's simple to understand, all you have to do is "believe", bad weather is caused by AGW and failed predictions are caused by unforeseen natural variability.
