What gauge of cable is advisable to connect to 12V sealed lead acid batteries in parallel?

I am building a small 70 Ah battery power supply (using AC inverter) by connecting two 12 volt sealed lead acid AGM 35 Ah batteries in parallel. The battery terminals will be less than 12 inches from each other. I'm not sure what gauge of cable is necessary or advised? Any advice on gauge and materials would be much appreciated.

You're not working with a lot of current. My experience with wiring comes from 12v car electronics, and that puts out many more amp hours than your inverter. A car battery is grounded to the frame using a 4 gauge copper strand cable in many cases.

You're not going to be using a cable thicker than 4 gauge, this much I can tell you.

The main issues to be concerned with are voltage drop and cable flexibilty (mobility).

Voltage drop can be calculated on many web sites freely. For example, here (http://www.nooutage.com/vdrop.htm) you will see that even a 12 inch 10 AWG cable of copper handling 10 Ah will only give you a 0.1% drop in voltage. A 4 AWG cable would drop 0%.

High strange counts will get you better flexibility, but the insulation can add stiffness, as with SGX cable.

between the main stable how you could try lead acid batteries, is the to degree the resting voltage. hence, totally value it, then permit it take a seat over night and verify the voltage day after today. It desires time to drop to that's resting state so as that we can verify it extra accurately. a completely charged Lead Acid battery in stable subject will stay at approximately 12.8 to 13.a million volts. Even 12.7 must be seen perfect, yet something critically below 12.8 and it desires to get replaced. make particular that your charger works exact until now engaging in this try.

I would consider getting a set of starter cables (the wire that goes from the battery to the starter or a car, riding mower, etc) from a part store, or from a junk yard if you want to salvage one. That way you pretty much know you've got a large enough cable.

4 gauge stranded wire will work just fine
