Can I still play a real money tournament online if I won the seat to that tournament?
Online gambling with real money is illegal in Washington, but what If I won a free tournament, and the prize is an entry into a real money tournament? Even though I didn't spend any of my own money, is it still illegal to even be in that tournament if I'm trying to win real money?

That's a great question. I don't know for sure, but I'd have to say no. That "seat" that you won has a monetary value. So you ARE playing for real money now if you play in this tournament.
I'm not a lawyer, though. Perhaps you should re-post this question in the "law" section.

Get your hands on a starting hand chart. You can probably get one online. My favorite one is in Phil Gordon's Little Green Book (Google search it). I like Gordon's charts because he has a chart for average tables, one for tables where you wish to play tight, and one with looser starting requirements. He also has a table for short-handed play. When I first started playing for money, I sat with the charts in front of me so I could always compare the strength of my hand to the potential hands of my opponents.
