Which of these ideas do you think would be most interesting for the Winter Classic?

Rank your favorites from these

1) Dallas @ Minnesota- Dallas wears the old North Stars jerseys

2) Carolina @ Boston- Carolina wears Whalers jerseys

3) Phoenix @ Toronto- Phoenix wears Jets jerseys

4) Colorado @ Montreal- Colorado wears Nordiques jerseys

5) Chicago @ St. Louis- in Busch stadium (Cards and Cubs are huge rivalry in baseball, so have them wear baseball inspired jerseys)

6) NJ @ Colorado

7) LA @ Edmonton- The Trade

8) Montreal @ Detroit- Most successful Canadian team vs. most successful American team

9) Atlanta @ Calgary- Calgary came from Atlanta

10) Washington vs Ottawa- US capital vs. Canadian capital

BQ1- Any other ideas for Winter Classics?

BQ2- Favorite beer(s) for watching hockey?

Update:

teams always wear throwback jerseys for the WC, Howe, I was just suggesting which

Update 2:

@veggietart- as someone who grew up in DC, RFK would never work (the stadium is falling apart, and can barely handle hosting the DC United, and I speak from first hand experience). You'll notice in that one I didn't specify a host city, b/c that one could work regardless of who is host, unlike some of the other ideas, which clearly feature teams that could never host a WC. DC might actually be pushing it as a host city, since it can be pretty warm there in the winter

    8 - Montreal and Detroit.

Colorado, Carolina, and Phoenix wouldn't wear their former jerseys. They have new names and new locations now. The league (and the owners) want people to support what they have been for the past 15 years.

BQ1 - How about Detroit and Toronto. 7 times facing each other in the Stanley Cup finals. Long time rivals. Used to play in the same division. Plus Michigan and Ontario border each other. When you walk outside the Joe Louis Arena, you can see Windsor (Ontario). It's only a few hundred feet away.

    BQ2 - Molson!!!!

  • Chicago and St. Louis might be interesting, although a baseball rivalry doesn't automatically translate to hockey.

I really can't see a team playing in jerseys from another city and team name.

For 10, put the game in Washington (not Ottawa) at Nationals Stadium or RFK Stadium (both really close to Metro stations), and you might have something there. I like the idea of RFK because it's a classic stadium for a classic game, not to mention I saw footage of games in baseball stadiums, and the sightlines are horrible. I heard a rumor that Washington was being floated as an idea for a Winter Classic city. It does get pretty frigid around the New Year, although above-freezing temps wouldn't be a terrible problem; it was rain that caused all the problems in Pittsburgh this year.

I guess that takes care of your question, plus BQ1

    And BQ2, I don't drink beer.

Since the Winter Classic is an idea of NBC and Gary Bettman match ups 3, 4, 9, & 10. won't happen. NBC isn't keen on showing games in Canada. Also Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa don't have venues that could host the game. (Toronto and Montreal have removable roof domes but the stadium design is such that the facility couldn't handle that much water or snow removal).

A Toronto @ Detroit game would be interesting the '50's dynasty versus the '60's dynasty. But having a heritage alumni game would require wheelchairs and walkers.

a million. No honest, the Flyers have already been in a wintry climate classic. 2. i'm hoping the climate is chillier than this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days at Heinz container. The ice grew to become into no longer great. 3. as this is going to nevertheless be the trip season, according to threat Santa Claus can skate out so as that the Philly followers can boo him for previous situations' sake. 4. There might desire to certainly be some great rigidity if the Phillies and Yankees have been interior the international series and/or if the Giants and Eagles are then locked in a race for the NFC East. 5. Predicting 6 a million/2 months in develop, Flyers by utilising 2.

Boston just had the Winter Classic last year. I'd go with Detroit out of the cities that hasn't had one yet. I think Detroit should of had one before Pittsburgh.

I would love to see NJ play us at Invesco or Coors Field. Rematch of Game 7. That would be some awesome throwback game the day before...

    10 Washington vs Ottawa

Reason- that would be just plain funny watching the senators get crushed during the winter classic at home.
