why modern catholic nuns have short scirts instead of long habits?

I've never seen a nun with a short skirt, but many nuns wear secular clothes, which is usually a longer skirt or dress, but not short.

Nuns do not wear short skirts, they dress modestly but they no longer wear habits. Vatican2 changed the way nuns dressed from the coifs and wimples and flying-nun headgear to much simpler and more comfortable habits and then it did away with habits altogether. There are still some old nuns who prefer to wear a habit, and they are allowed to do so, but the younger ones don't. But they don't wear short skirts.

Whoa! I haven't heard of that. Might as well ask my Catholic friends. I can't imagine nuns wearing short skirts.

i think you should say "shorter" skirts, not short. The clue is the word "modern".
