I want to teach English in japan but not sure what I should major in. I plan on majoring in Japanese and Astronomy, but should I make astronomy my minor and choose something else as a major?

Well you could choose to do anything you want, it won't really affect your circumstances if you do make astronomy your minor and choose some other major or not. There's always the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) that exists for anyone international, whether they have some qualification in Japanese or not. So as long as you can get a level one or two in the JLPT, then you should be good to go with your plan

You should major on something that provides you valuable skills. To teach English in Japan or any other country, you need a degree in any area and a reputable TESOL or TEFL certificate.
