Rehab... has s/he tried rehab yet? If not, definitely rehab. Sending someone to pen isn't going to necessarily help them resolve their issues; at least give them a chance to do that. If that doesn't work, maybe pen will be the only option after that.
To the person above who said people who use meth are essentially "bad people"... if you truly feel like that and you are real, I feel sorry for you. Your mode of thinking is so black and white, 2-dimensional. Using meth may not be good for someone, but doing something that is not good for you doesn't necessarily make you bad (unless you are also doing it for the sole purpose of breaking the law or to hurt someone else). But saying NO ONE or EVERYONE is such a blanket statment, so it really disappointments me when people make statments like that without giving solid reasons to back them up and without stating who is being hurt or what is being damaged by the action at hand.

Anyone who commits a crime is NOT a good person. Anyone who does meth and weed is NOT a good person. And anyone who's on a deferred sentence is not, cannot, and will NEVER be considered a good person.
I think the person involved should be given a long prison sentence, up to the statutory maximums.

"Good person" who got caught before and then blew the big break of deferred so he could have some meth?
Differed revoked, if convicted on new offense (IN MY COUNTY) total between the two cases, 22 years felony probation.
Basically given yet another chance, since they know your going to F up again.
Your county may differ.
