How much is legal for a collection agency fees in Washington State?
I have looked but I am confused. I had a bill that came out for a surgery in May of 2k10, and I went and paid it today.
The principal was $425.74 and they charged me $860 that is over 2x for only 10 months......7 months outstanding??? That is friggin' ridiculous and SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE AN ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!
I offered them $720 and they said 'Absolutely NOT!!" I also said, 'can you at least put in as a 'PAID IN FULL' status and they said 'Sure, We can do that, IF you sign and pay' so I did, and what they did was give my a stupid paid in full letter to the people I owed the debt to.
Do I have ANY sort of way to vindicate myself at all?
I am not a deadbeat ....I was in an accident and I went to the hospital to ONE desk and signed ONE paper...why are 35 people asking for money? How is ANYONE supposed to even give $25 a month to 35(actually 27) different places?? I am paying over $400 a month alltogether right now for these bills but the ones who aren't getting money are calling me 3x a day.
If you went to a restaurant and got dinner they aren't gonna give me a bill from the waitress, host, cook, and dishwasher. How do hospitals get away with this...I mean there are $650 in "administration fees" and fees from each individual place too.....WTF??? Thanks for any new info.
Good Gawd Yahoo Sucks!!! You all suck...you just give crap answers to get points......why do that. You won't even answer something if it requires effort...wtf!!! I guess I already know better than rely on you guys :D
What is your problem? Is it that I got zero help, and I bitched about it? I did that because I actually do help on here. Also you said my question makes no sense? You must be a kid in school or something 'cause it's and articulate, yet somewhat frantic question.
Ok, so what doesn't make sense? I went to the hospital and checked in. Now instead of a bill I can contend with EVERY SINGLE person who did anything while I was there is sending a bill. I am paying several hundred ($400)a month to multiple offices.
One of the offices tried to garnish me.
The principal was $425.74 and they charged me $860 that is over 2x for only 10 months......7 months outstanding???
The original bill $425.74
It was a current bill for 90 days and outstanding for 7months = 10 months.
There isn't a judgment against me, but they refused $295 over the principal
I paid $860 on a $425 bill
What I am asking is how can this be the way we do things? I go to one business for service, but I am obligated to pay every

Maybe you should consider whether your question is even intelligible and consider re posting it so it doesn't sound like the incoherent rant of someone who wrote it while drunk or high on drugs.
Lose the spelling and grammatically challenged commentary and opinions out. They just make your question tl dr taking up about 75% of the text of your question.
What little you do post that is relevant to your question doesn't even make any sense. You say the principal debt was $425.74 and you say the debt was outstanding for 10 months and then 7 months in the same sentence. So which is it, 7 months or 10 months? If the debt was incurred at the time of the surgery how can it be 10 months when it hasn't been 10 months since May, 2010 and how can it be 7 months when it is at least 8 and possibly 9 months after the surgery?
Then you say you paid the debt in full, yet go on to whine about how your still paying over $400 a month for the debt?
And then you add a bitchy little comment as an "additional detail" because no one has answered your pseudo question after 1 day, probably because no one can figure out what the hell your actual situation is based on your inconsistent incoherent babbling? God forbid you should have to wait a few days to answer a question. Because only wonderful you has the right to make people wait, including the hospital that you thought should have to wait for over half a year to get paid for services rendered.
Edit: "'cause it's and articulate" ....yeah real articulate there. You're the only one that sounds juvenile here. Just one day after posting your answer you go off insulting everyone who provides answers in this topic and you wonder why you're getting zero help. Not exactly the act of a mature person.
I'm going to ignore your comment about paying $400 a month to multiple offices since, like most of your "question" it appears to be completely irrelevant. You didn't pay your $425.74 so the hospital assigned it to a collection agency. Most services have you agree that if your debt is assigned to collection, you can be charged interest by the collection agency. Washington allows a collection agency to charge up to 12% monthly interest. Compounded interest at 7 months on $425.74 at 12% is $941.17 so yes this can be the way of things when your debt gets assigned to collections.
