Is astrology a proven science?
I understand that the order of the stars and planets is a science but I don't get these ''star signs''. I find it hard to believe being born in a certain month determines your persona. Are the star signs a science or just a myth?

Astrology is not an accepted science. At best, it is considered a pseudo-science. I am a student of astrology, but I am not going to pretend that astrology is a science - at least not at this point in time.
However, I will say that I don't believe astrology should necessarily be considered a science. The scientific method imposes many restrictions on studies that I don't think are suitable for the qualitative and in-depth personal analysis that astrology offers. Remember, everything doesn't have to be a science to be worth something.
I will clear up a couple of other things, though.
Firstly, astrology also goes a lot further than Sun signs, and the horoscopes you read in the paper are either completely made up or based on very loose, shallow information. Astrology can get very complicated indeed.
Secondly, nothing is precisely 'determined' in astrology, per say. Many astrologers believe that the position of the stars at your time of birth will encourage you to act certain ways, but they do not rule out free will, genetics and environment in shaping a person. Astrology deals with archetypal symbols.
Thirdly, even though astrology is not a science, astrology is not 'just a myth'. Astrology does, however, have very strong ties to the allegorical stories outlined in ancient mythologies. Once again - astrology deals with symbols.
Anyway, you don't have to bother with astrology at all of course, but I find it to be complementary to psychology and philosophy and very valuable in helping one understand how people work. There is no need to vilify and ridicule it, as some of the answerers have done above. Even to the non-believer, astrology contains a number of valuable insights and can be a very intriguing and helpful study to those who are concerned with the human condition and introspection.

ASTROLOGY IS BEYONDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD SCIENCE.
SO SCIENCE can never prove astrology........
for example,,,,,,,,,, 1. plants will grow faster when moon is waxing.
2 . the mental tensions will be more during no moon days and around that period check out the accidents and other incidents.
3. why in a class of 50 students even though given same quality and quantity of food and teachings only few excels and others fails.
4. some times even rank holders and PG s struggles to make a good life...........
where some drop outs archives many things.
if u observe , study, analyse u r surrounding and environment carefully ,u will be wondering how that was possible ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

My friend i am pretty darn good at guessing star signs of people...i mean, really. Also I believe the place you were born in can contribute to your soul-forming, depending on what kind of place it is. But dont tell anyone I said so...people are too sceptical.

What Sparrowbird said is good...
There are many things science cannot "prove." So what? Is science your new religion?

As the late Sir Patrick Moore said, "Astrology proves one scientific fact - there's one born every minute".

Astrology is not a science and it is certainly not proven. I am amazed that so called Astrologers can go on turning out similar stuff, which never repeats, each day in the newspapers and I doff my cap to their inventiveness.

A total load of hogwash - if you look at the 'forecast' they are all generic and say basically the same thing, day after day, week after week and year after year.
All total rubbish
