Can I deny PCS orders?
Okay so I decided and made plans to get out of the Marine Corps before I received orders to go to Okinawa, Japan for 3 years with my family. My EAS (Date I get out) is August 2013. I have to check into Okinawa July 1st 2011. I know I don't have enough time to take my family unless I extend for 1 year but I am planning on denying the Accompanied 3 year orders I currently have for Okinawa becuase my wife can't quit her job and go and I also don't want to be bullied into extending my contract an entire year just to go to another unit. The thing is, I am afraid the monitor/detailer will simply modify my orders to go to Okinawa unaccompanied for 2 years. Essentialy, I want to know, if the monitor decides to cut me unaccompanied orders for 2 years, can I deny these orders? I really don't want to spend 2 years away from my family, especially as were transitioning to civilian life. It will make finding a job nearly impossible and leave me unable to properly transition to civilian life. I have no family around where I am currently stationed and where my family reside so no help there. The hardest thing I am dealing with is staying away from my wife and 3 year old for 2 years. I know of people that do it, but those people that I know actually requested to be stationed unaccompanied. Anyone have insight?
Thanks!
Just in case you were wondering... I am fine with taking a bad reenlistment code and promotion halt.
To oneiloilokano: Part of the arrangements and planning made to get out was understanding that my wife won't quit her job. If I were going to make it a career then she would have made the sacrifice. As for growing a set, have you been to Iraq and Afghanistan 4 times collectively and been in a firefight? I've sacrificed plenty for my country and the Marine Corps...I would rather stay with my unit or go to another unit and deploy again then go to Okinawa w/o my family for 2 years and do a bunch of field ops and training never to step foot in a combat environment.
To all the stupid *** comments and extra bullsh%t coming from your head: Just anwser the f#!king question. Why waste your time, my time and bandwidth you immature f*&cks.
Thank you to those that have answered my question thoughtfully.

No. You'll just get unaccompanied orders for 2 years.
Nobody wants to spend 2 years away from their family. But according to you your wife "can't quit her job" so you would be PCS ing alone anyway ! You "won't be bullied into extending" so that ensures your going alone.
Getting a bad Re enlistment code or a promotion halt is not an option. The only way out of your orders is by getting discharged. So either go smoke dope and get kicked out or grow a set and extend for a year and take your family with you.

they are called orders.. you don't get the choice. if you decline, they can STILL send you there, they will just not make you extend for the full 2 years or however long they are for. and during that time frame you will not be allowed to be advanced or receive any other favorable action.. you will be stuck in limbo. don't forget that ALL contracts are 8 years total and if they really wanted to be rotten, they could Involuntarily extend you for the entire length of the orders regardless. Declinations are really only useful to people who have only a few months left on an enlistment. you have a full year. is it really worth the effort? maybe instead of bitching about it you find something to not hate about 29 Stumps.

In the Army you do a "declination statement" to turn down mandatory reenlistment for an assignment and forfeit any chance to reenlist so you will have to get out at the end of your enlistment.
I do not think this would stop them from putting you on 2 year orders if you have more then 2 years on your hitch.
One of my Soldiers did this when I was a commander so he would not have to PCS to Alaska.

You will have to go on an unaccompained tour until the end of your enlistment.

if you deny them all they have to do is reissue the orders again. and you won't be able to deny them a second time.
