Plasma vs LCD TV Comparison?

I recently bought a 42" Panasonic plasma tv & it's picture resolution unbelievable. Even more recently, I got another set for a bedroom. Since a 32" was the max size I could fit there I had to pick an LCD. Both TVs are 1080p resolution, but their resolutions are very different. Although the LCD is good, it doesn't come close to the bigger plasma. There are differences in the specs, of course. The plasma has a 6 million to 1 contrast ratio vs 50,000 to 1 for the LCD. The refresh rate is 600 hz for the plasma vs 120hz for the LCD.

Is it wrong to for me expect the two TVs to be close to comparable as far as a great picture?

Plasma will always have better picture than LED/LCD and at a better price. Because plasma's are able to shut off pixels to make amazing blacks which in turn gives better colors and contrasts you also have very fast response times. Only thing about plasma is you have to take care of it a bit more than LCD such as rotating your viewing more to avoid image retention. If you are dumb enough to get image retention by playing the same game for 14 hours or watching stuff with bars for many hours you can get image retention. Which can be fixed by watching more HD stuff or by using the built in screen savor wipe in your menu. Burn in is a thing of the past for noname plasma's. So plasma will be here to stay despite LCD companies trying to get plasma picture by adding more HZ and dimming LED's which cost 3 times more than a plasma. I say ditch LCD and always go with plasma. Only get LCD if your TV will be smaller than 42 inches because plasma's come at 42 inches or more. I love my 42 inch 1080p panny plasma.

Source(s): Chris L's plasma is a noname one from 2003 that's why he gets the burn in issue. I can play the same 360 game 5 hours straight on my panny plasma and get no image retention. another thing that tells me his plasma is from 2003 is that he said he barely noticed a difference in picture quality between LCD and plasma. The LCD was a 2009 Samsung or LG, the plasma was a 2003 Sanyo. That's a big difference between the time of the technology and company.

I have watched movies on both plasma tv's and LCD tv's and found them both to be excellent. I have also played video games on both and while the plasma does have deeper blacks, the picture quality is very similar on both sets. The problem I have with plasma is the burn in. I play a lot of video games on my PS3 and you can't get away from health bar or ammo bar burn in on a plasma. I had a friend who played a ton of Wii and had a burn in problem with his plasma. I have an LCD tv and I am quite happy with it but I do wisih it had the deep black that plasma has. Oh well, laser tv isn't too far off I am sure! :)

keep in mind. non of any LCD TV come close to Plasma . especially Panasonic Plasma .

Plasma display more refine colour , pure dark and black colour. o.o1 response time super fast refresh rate make smooth pictures with out motion blur.

LCD TV unable to display pure dark and black colour. black more to gray.

the best response time for LCD TV is 4ms g to g Standard / 120 or 240 HZ refresh rate. is big " gap " compare to Plasma.

you can expect an QUALITY LED TV ( LCD-LED back light ) TV very close to Plasma performance.

LED TV not so simple as " only difference in back light ). LED TV prouder much better colour display / more pure dark and black colour, more ' sharp - clear - brightness " pictures. LED TV general cover the motion blur well , due to lower response time to 2ms g to g standard.

i should said our eye will not getting the significant different between quality LED TV and Plasma TV.

of course , those low prices " off brand ' LED TV are not up to real LED TV performance , that unable to reached Plasma quality.

the two liquid crystal exhibit and Plasma presently have an identical lifespan cycle (approximately 60,000 hours of use). the version is you're arranged to alter the backlight lamp on the liquid crystal exhibit (possibly even improve it) however the Plasma photograph will steadily degrade with use and that technique is non-reversible. Plasma additionally demands a greater capacity than liquid crystal exhibit yet ingredients greater appropriate shade reproduction in some aspects. it extremely is tough to locate a 40" or smaller plasma considering that they have an inclination to reign on bigger displays because of the fact of their fee earnings (over liquid crystal exhibit) in those sizes.
