Two questions religious and philosophical?
Two questions religious and philosophical
My friend wants to convert to Christianity/Islam in order to get married.
He says his short and that non religious girl only judge him because of the way he looks and not for who he is. He says if he converts he would be able to get married to a woman who loves him for who he is and not for what he looks like.
His, I think 5’4” or 5’6”
I think his immoral…but am I wrong?
My second question is why do Christians/Muslims always say that their Holy Books are perfect? Isn’t that like Idol worship? I mean isn’t God the only perfect being in the universe? Maybe the message of their Holy Books is divine and thus perfect. And not their Holy Books which were written by men.
Anyway thank

He might find that religious girls aren't in reality much different. He just needs to be happy with his appearance (and we're all imperfect) and who he is and he will attract the right people.
(And I agree with Emma K.)

1)What makes him think that religious girls will love him for what he is and not for what he looks like?
Does he think that non religious people are shallow? that's a very wrong generalisation.
Let's take religion and arranged marriages. Religious people get married without loving each other a lot of the time. Is that what he really wants?
And btw he's not THAT short, I'm sure he could get a girl.
I wouldn't say that he is immoral, just not thinking this the whole way through.
Converting to a religion should happen when you start believing in a that religion, not when you want to get married.
2) Well, I don't think Christians believe that their Holy Books are perfect at all.
I've heard Muslims saying that the Quran is perfect and it was revealed by God or something.
I don't think it's Idol worship because they don't worship the book. They just get God's message from the books.

The question is, does your friend want to reproduce or not?
That is, how important are his ideals to him?
Because he can do one of two things.
He can either take a risk and try to find someone who doesn't want him to convert to a religion. But if he fails then he may not reproduce or find someone to love.
Or he can convert to a religion and just get married. Then he won't have to worry about that.
Personally I don't care what he does, it's his future.
Let him do what he wants.
Then again, is changing what you believe in for a women ever a good idea?

I can however answer your second question on Holy books better.
Now then a consesus of mainstream Christian religions (Catholics, mainstream Protestantism) does not consider the Bible to be "perfect" or "infallible". Or to read it literally like that.
Why is this?
Because it's understood (for the most part) that the Bible was composed and collected over the last 5000 years by humans. In fact the majority of the Old Testament spent 3000 years being passed down through oral tradition. This means that the Jews memorized the Old Testament and told their children who also had to memorize it and pass it down to their children as well. They didn't have paper, so they couldn't write it down and had to pass it down through spoken word tradition like that.
However, as you can probably guess, there's a lot of room for people to cause mistakes in the Bible. In fact there are a lot of chunks missing from it as well. The same is true to a lesser extent of the New Testament. That's because the New Testament was recorded by being written down (they had paper then) but they had to keep rewriting it repeatedly because the paper would get destroyed. However! When people rewrite stuff they occasionally have the tendency to "add" things...
So yeah, the point is, due to the fact the Bible was compiled over the last 5000 years by "humans". And people have this annoying tendency to bias, rewrite stuff, insert stuff, delete stuff, the Bible isn't completely perfect (or infallible).
------------
The Muslims however do consider their holy book, the Quran, to be infallible.
Why?
Because unlike the Bible it WASN'T compiled over 5000 years. Yes, as it happened the founder of Islam, Muhammad, was apparently spoken directly to by God (Allah). Allah thus told him, word for word, what he wanted Muhammad to write down (this is the Quran). Muhammad was then sent down from the mountain he was on (I think he was on a mountain) and told the people, word for word, what he was told. However he also told them specifically (because God told him specifically) NEVER to change anything in it.
Interestingly enough they obeyed him, and you can compare really old copies of the Quran to more modern copies and find VERY little has changed (this isn't true for the Bible however).
That's why the Muslims are more prone to believe in the infallibility and perfectness of the Quran compared to Christians who have the Bible which is prone to more errors (and lost stuff).

Philosophically speaking it is his own discretion.
About the second question I totally agree with your views.
