wanting to set up a mobile home?

I have several acres of land that I am wanting to build a house on in the near future but for now I would like to put a mobile home there just to get the land established and get all utilities ran then live there until I can start to build. The spot I have picked out is about 300 feet from the nearest water main and power line. About how much would it cost to set it up? Just a ballpark within a couple thousand. Thanks-Don

It will vary greatly depending on the state and county that you live in. In my county you would first need to have the proper zoning. Next you would pay 10,000 in impact fees, pay 6,000 or so for a required concrete pad to put the mobile home on, and maybe a few hundred to have the home inspected after being moved. (They will inspect the tie down and other connections to insure that they are up to code), Next, there would be 4,000 in regular hook up fees and then you could figure out what it would cost to run a water and power line the extra 300 feet. Assuming you do not have to run the water line too deep into the ground for yoru climate, I would think that the water line itself would be less than 3.00 a foot. For the electric line, you probably can call the local utility and see if they run the lines to the property. Hopefully you live in county where fees and inspections are not an issue. Big local government is a killer to the economy, not to mention how many dreams they can kill when they get in the way.
