Self-injury?!??!!!?!?

Okay, so I'm 13 and I cut my shoulder with a scissor blade. The cuts aren't deep but I'm addicted. How do I stop?! My friends don't help and I'm so alone :( therapists are creepers... I just need someone to LISTEN! aah help?

    Distract yourself, and try to find other ways to cope with whatever feelings are making you harm yourself. Examples are drawing/writing, taking a walk, making tea or hot chocolate, talking to a friend, distracting yourself on the computer... The sooner you stop cutting, the easier it will be.

    I had a very similar problem at around the same age. Why you do it is when you are upset or angry? Do you do it to try and get back at someone and make them feel bad? Or do you just do it for the fun of it, because you might like the pain. There are a lot of questions that you need to ask you're self and answer truthfully. But if you don't like therapy and don't want help that way then you're best bet is to rely on you're self. You're strong enough to quit if you want to. It is mostly a mental state of mind, once you set you're mind to not cutting anymore then you wont. But like i said this wont happen until you are honestly ready to stop, even if you were to go to therapy for it they can't make you stop cutting, all they can do is tell hoe bad it is and that it could lead to other serious problems but only if you allow it. Don't be weak you can do this i promise, i made it! I hope the sites that im referring you to will help you. I wish you a long and healthy life! Good luck.

    dude i know exactly how you feel! im 13 too..i started cutting at 11..i was addicted the first week..after 2 years i was in rehab & i have really bad anxiety problems now & my right wrist is covered in disgusting dcars & a few keloids (red puffy scars that didnt heal right & theyre extreamly noticable..) you need to find different ways to relieve your emotions..instead of cutting, go on a run, draw, journal, take a bath, cry, anything thatll take your mind off of it..if you cant stop, tell an adult, mine got really bad & it lead to stupid decisions (suicidal actions, drugs, stealing, & legal issues..) you dont want that to be you..please try hard to stop..itll be hard but if i can do it, you can too(:

    also theres this thing that i use..its kinda pathetic but it helps me..its called the butterfly project..heres what you do..

    •draw a butterfly on your arm hand wrist, anywhere with permant marker-like sharpie

    •make it pretty & name it after someone you love

    •if you cut, the butferfly dies :(

    •if you dont cut it lives :D

    • you have to wait till it wears off naturally, no scrubbing it off

    •love the butterfly with all your heat becuase it loves you & its there to support youu.

    youll feel amazing when you dont cut. i know it seems childish & pathetic but it really helps-at least for me it did..give it a whirl :D
