You installed "a" RealTek sound card driver? You should not install a random driver, you should install the driver for your specific sound card brand and model. Installing "a" driver, even if by the correct brand, but not for the correct model of sound card, might cause serious software issues. If you have a branded computer, such as a HP or Dell for example, simply download the sound card driver for your specific computer model from the website of its manufacturer. That is all there is to it. If you do not have a branded computer, simply browse to the website of your motherboard manufacturer, where you can download the drivers for your specific motherboard model, which will solve your issue. Never ever install a random driver, never!

Did you disable the the on board sound card before installing the realtek driver, i have to agree with arie on this one this so call universal sound card driver doesn't work on all pc's and the only time i use it is the motherboard requires its any other reason go to the manufacture website and install the original driver they more and more becoming windows 7 compatible
