Why do you not believe in God?

From the second week of January, God spoke to a women in our church and told her that this year, there would be an increase in natural disasters and there would be an increase in suicide rate. Already what God said is coming true and when you see these things, the bible tells us that the second coming of Jesus is near... so , what do you think of this?

God is the very Matrix of this Universe, Everything is part of it Sun Rise, Moon at Night, Ocean Waves and so on...

Humans divided this Matrix by Religion, Name, Shapes, Philosophies and so on

Our Brain will show what our Heart wants, no matter what or how hard you try Because the Media, Advertisement, Movies, Entertainment hypnotized us....

All Major Religious books have Same beginning, same course of life and at the end there will be a Armageddon or Kalyuga or Qiyamah...

Then Happy life forever and ever... Paradise or Sathyuga or Jannah.

This is the best Human could think of. Might be the Years when they were penned down differs but human thought is capable of only so much because we are part of this Very Matrix we call as God.

I think that you take the word of others over research.

Current research shows that there IS NOT an increase in natural disasters. In fact, there is a slight downward trend right now - these stats tend to rise and fall and never remain constant (its not like there are exactly 100 earthquakes every year and now there are 110/year...) This is all observable on the USGS site.

But hey - who needs evidence, right?

BTW - that lady in your church is hallucinating and hearing voices. Sure sign of mental instability.

...Your title and your question have nothing to do with each other.

But I don't believe in god because while there is no proof for either side of the argument, the burden of proof lies on the affirmative side.

Give me the statistics that those two rates have gone up, first of all, and that's not even close to proof. All the natural disasters and suicides (if your facts are right and they are increasing) tell me is that there are climate problems and depression, and that's no shocker.

That's not evidence. Evidence of a god needs to be much stronger than that. See, in court when witnesses give testimony, the defense and prosecution get to ask the witness questions to see if there are any hidden motives that might make the witness tell lies. And what is an obvious motive for the person in your example to lie? that's right, she wants her religion to be true. This is a strong motive to lie. So her testimony is bogus.

The rate of natural disasters occurring has remained roughly the same for over 200 years.

There are thousands of gods I don't believe in. How many gods do you not believe in? Any god you can name, I will not believe in.

The bible is a set of folktales gathered to meet the needs of the people in power at the time. They have no other significance. Read books about physics, meteorology and global warming.

Learn to write essays that show critical thinking.

I think without a citation to both her saying such before you read reports showing such increases and the reports also showing such this is just as much non-evidence as anything else I've been presented

So...uh...citations or I still don't believe in god because I've yet to be given any reason to think a god exists.

I think the woman you mention is delusional, and that there are always a profusion of natural disasters.

Lack of tangible, credible evidence is why I don't believe in your God.

Well there's been a lot of proof lately that distinctly proves religion wrong in every way possible. I happen to like proofs more than magic. Jesus is a cool dude, i'll bake him cookies if he comes over.
