Recognize = UK
Recognise = wrong. (Sorry, US)
Type 'recognize' for a definition.
Then type 'recognise'.
This is the Oxford English Dictionary.

SO many British people do not know how to spell words of their own language.
Recognize is the correct British spelling although both are used in the UK. Some people argue that recognise is the most common way of spelling it in the UK so it must be correct, but it's not, it's just a very commonly misspelled word.
Everyone below me is so wrong. All you need to do is pick up any UK English dictionary to find the correct English spelling is recognize. In fact i have checked many online and three actual dictionaries which do not even list the word recognise.

I grew up in a country which speaks British English and I recently wrote the word "recognise"on a board in my class. An administrator told me to take it off as it was incorrectly spelt. Tjhat I was in the US. and it wasn't written with an "s".She was very dogmatic about it

I am 55 years old, born, raised, and lived in what s left of the (principles of) United States of America. I was taught and all the hard copy dictionaries I have from decades ago, spell this word with the letter "Z".
Given that said, that is the way it was. While I m annoyed when I see this spelled incorrectly with an "S"; nothing in life is permanent IMHO.
BTW, the title of this isn t even spelled correctly. It s not "..OGONIZE", it s "...OGNIZE"
I recognize that the "intended" correct spelling of the word is RECOGNIZE with a "Z" and not an "S".
