anyone know the name of this book?

All i know is it took place in the future with archeologist's digging up the remains of the USA and they don't know what to make of what they find. I believe they thought the Statue of Liberty was a religious icon. This book came out decades ago.

Update:

Its was not a movie it was a book. I think it may have started with a W. A coworker of mine remembers something simular though she can't remember any more then I can

I agree with Andrew--closest thing I can recall is from the original movie with Charlton Heston from 1968. He is an astronaut thrown into the future--thinking he was thrown into the past. At the end he finds out we have finally blown up our planet and all you see is the head of the Statue of Liberty.

I'm pretty sure that's the ending to Planet of the Apes.
