What can i do once i find out where someone is working using my social security number?
i want justice done.. in 2009 my purse was stolen from a laundromat i used to work at.. i called the police and made a police report. so this year 2011 when i went to do my 2010 taxes the guy who does my taxes told me it looks like my social was already used.. but he told me it just might be an innocent mistake.. almost a month later a log on to where's my refund and its giving me a number and an extension to call the IRS. i called them right away, the representative told me that i previously did my taxes as single.. i told her no i didn't, i am married with two dependants why would i file single? i file married with my kids for the past 3 years and married since 2005...i also mentioned to her that my purse which included my license and my social security card was stolen. she put me on hold to start an investigation on their end.. She told me that the irs sent a letter to the address which did the taxes doing my social to give them the opportunity to come forward if it was an innocent mistake.. Which i highly doubt because i called later on that day and another representative asked me if i am working at a call center which i'm not.. So obviousely they are working with my social.. And on top of that trying to do taxes! Sorry i'm really upset..The IRS called me back and told me that they were going to send me a form with a series of questions for me to fill out and send back..But i asked them what do they do to the individual that is using my information she said nothing... how can you do nothing? I started doing some research and i found out that i can request online on the Social security website a print out of where my social is being used its called a social security statement.. i requested it online.. i should receive it within 2-4 weeks...When i find out where they are working at what can i do? What should i do legally? Also does anyone have any idea what is the irs going to do with me?? and what can i do to prevent this from happening again.. Should i change my name or add a middle name?? HELP!! Thank you!

When you get the printout, forward it to the FBI and the IRS and make an official Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Identity Theft complaint, which involves first reporting it to your local police so the officer can sign off on your FTC complaint. Go to the site below and online you can fill out and print the complaint. Then call the police and have an officer go to your house to take the report. Show him the complaint and where it requires his signature. He MUST fill out the section of the report, and then you can fax or mail it to the FTC.

The IRS is after the money you volunteered to give them attached to your social security number. They don't care who uses the number. Contact a local detective for help....Now as far as preventing it again...Your path to freedom starts at famguardian.org...The Great IRS Hoax

Well first you need to find out who is using your number and then report it and seek to have your info changed. The irs can't kill you so anything else is just water under a bridge

The IRS will do something about it. They just have no reason to tell you what they are doing.
