Felt baby move at 14 weeks and now no movements?

At 14 weeks I had an appointment and felt the baby moving a few times while we listened to the heartbeat. But ever since that appointment I've not felt any movements.

I'm 17 weeks now. This is weird to me because it's my 6th pregnancy and I know how it feels, and I always have fetal movement before 16 weeks.

Why would I have fetal movement at 14 weeks and then for the next 3 weeks....nothing?

call your doctor. he/she may have you come in to locate the heartbeat w/ the doppler. if they don't find it using the doppler they may give you an ultrasound. i'm sure the little baby's in there bouncing around like crazy, but i'd call for peace of mind.

Remember that your baby is still really small, so fetal movements would be few and far between. Also, it depends on where the placenta is, and remember that this continues to grow for a while yet, so it might have grown in the front of your uterus, over the spot where your little one is kicking. Also, your little one might be facing your back, and you're far less likely to feel movement when your baby is facing your back. Feeling fetal movement is so dependent on so many things, it's far more likely that the explanation is simple!

The baby could have turned itself around so you can not feel the movements right now. S/he may be moving/kicking against the placenta or an internal organ so you wouldn't be able to feel him/her. If you're still concerned about it call your dr and ask them if they would do another heart beat so that you can hear the heart and get reconfirmation that the baby is thriving in there. :)

The baby is so small at 17 weeks. It is quite possible your baby just turned around and is kicking at your back or the placenta so you no longer feel the movements.

  • Firstly, nothing to worry.

    Sure Possibilities:

    - Your baby now has less space to move compared to earlier weeks.

    - The baby starts resting and sleeping by now and that's why you notice less movements.

Remember, every pregnancy is different, even for the same woman.

    Good luck.
