  • Anyone else have a toddler with low blood sugar (hypolycemia)?

We're starting to think our 3 year old has been dealing with hypoglycemia for quite a while now. Every once in a while (usually morning) he will have episodes where he will become very lethargic, fussy and his skin gets cold & clammy. Then he'll just collapse/fall sleep in my arms. When he wakes up he's shaky and wants desperately to eat and drink. Soon after, he's all better.

After looking up "ketotic hypoglycemia" online I've found my son fits other symptoms - slender build and very low percentiles for weight to height). Anyone else dealing with something like this? I will be taking him to the pediatrician next week.

  • Felt baby move at 14 weeks and now no movements?

At 14 weeks I had an appointment and felt the baby moving a few times while we listened to the heartbeat. But ever since that appointment I've not felt any movements.

I'm 17 weeks now. This is weird to me because it's my 6th pregnancy and I know how it feels, and I always have fetal movement before 16 weeks.

Why would I have fetal movement at 14 weeks and then for the next 3 weeks....nothing?

  • Do you think too many cesarean deliveries are performed in America?

I recently heard of a hospital in Ogden, Utah publicizing its newly opened Cesarean Wing. They were offering refreshments and door prizes and bragging about the huge rooms and flat screen TV's. It got me thinking that maybe some doctors and hospitals are taking this too far. I mean, isn't a c-section MAJOR surgery and reserved for medical emergencies?

If they want to advertise and draw women in, they should be publicizing their regular maternity ward and all the great things they have there to help women AVOID c-sections.

    Your thoughts?

  • Why won't Christians tell the truth about Halloween?

1 - It's not pagan or satanic. Halloween (the vigil of All Saints Day) was a Catholic observance from the very beginning.

#2 - All of the so-called "occult" themes surrounding Halloween have Christian origins. The belief in Hell is Christian. The belief in Demons is Christian. The belief in SATAN (gasp) is Christian. The belief in judgment in the afterlife is Christian.

#3 - The Catholic Church did not change the pagan Celtic festival of Samhain into Halloween. The 2 Popes who moved All Saints to Nov. 1st weren't even aware of Samhain.

  • Our dog attacked the chickens today....should we get rid of her?

We have a black lab mix female and our chickens are free range all day. The lab is usually in her pen, and we take her out twice a day for exercise and to train her to be near the chickens.

But today she attacked 3 of them and nearly killed one. After all our work with her, we were pretty upset and are thinking we should just find a new home for her.

    Any thoughts?

  • A question about twins......and genetics?

I often hear and read that fraternal twins run on "the mother's side" of the family.

Does this mean the "mother" who is pregnant, or is it referring to the grandmother (the pregnant mother's mother)?

  • Does breastfeeding a baby have any affect on your pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and nursing a 16-month-old. He nurses about 4 or 5 times a day (much less than he used to).

Does lactating affect pregnancy at all?

  • Mother cat is pregnant and not eating much....is it morning sickness?

She mated around Memorial Day so that would make her around 2 weeks along. She's just been picking at her food the past week or so. Is this just morning sickness like people get? I want her to be eating well for herself and her kittens.

  • Christians, what does the Bible say about Martin Luther's Reformation?

    1. Where in the Bible did it say Luther could start his own church?

    2. Where in the Bible did it say that Luther and the other "reformers" could defy the Church and start teaching new doctrines?

Note: I don't want verses about reformer doctrines like faith alone, etc. - I'm looking for verses that justify their DEFIANCE.

    Thank you.

  • How expensive is Zofran for sickness during pregnancy?

I have been prescribed Phenergen for past pregnancies but it really knocked me out and made me super drowsy. I can't do that this time around with 3 young children.

I've heard Zofran is expensive - can ladies who have used it give me an idea of the cost and how long the supply lasted you? Thanks.

  • What can I do with an injured baby rabbit (wild)?

I found my cat chasing/playing with a wild baby bunny. My cat had just eaten a big bowl of cat food and was not interested in eating it all, although there is a bit of blood on the bunny's chin (not sure if it's a bite, or something internal).

What should I do with the little baby? He looks like he's 2-3 weeks old, very alert and active. I saw his mother frantically running around the yard in response to his cries, but I have no idea where to place him so they can be "reunited."

    Any advice?

  • What's a good sewing machine for a beginner?

I can't spend more than $100 so I'm thinking of buying a used/refurbished from a reputable dealer locally.

I've heard great things about the quality and durability of Bernina and Husqvarna/Viking. Does anyone have any experience with these or other machines?

  • A Question About Melaleuca and Cleaning Products?

My friend visited with me tonight about joining Melaleuca "the Wellness Company" which sells supposedly safer and more effective cleaning and hygiene products.

The prices seemed really high to me, and I was uncomfortable with having to pay a membership fee just to get the products and HAVE to make a purchase every month.

Isn't it possible to make good household cleaners yourself with non-toxic ingredients? Any ideas about this, and any thoughts on Melaleuca?

  • Help with names for a Golden Retriever?

Our family just got a beautiful male puppy and need some name suggestions. So far I've come up with:

Moses, Jake, Nicholas, Virgil and Beau

Any more ideas? We'd like something unique and different and not silly since a Golden is such a kind and noble dog.

  • Can you explain why my beef stew was too sweet?

Last night I made beef stew and used 1 can of tomato soup as I always do. When we sat down to eat the stew it was SUPER sweet, like I had liberally seasoned it with sugar.

Very strange and not at all pleasant! I looked at the can of Campbell's soup and it has sugar in it but I've never had this happen before and I cook with tomato soup all the time.

    Any thoughts?

P.S. I did not add salt to the soup (and mistake it for sugar)

  • Can we lose our salvation after accepting Jesus in faith?

Some Christians say "yes" and others say "no" and ironically they all are using the Bible to back up their answer.

Is God's word not clear on this? Why the conflicting beliefs?
