do any marines here really consider marine infantry to be on the same level as ranger regiment?
question pretty much says it all...
does anyone here think that marine infantry who go through an initial entry training with a 10% attrition rate, are the worst equiped branch, and are a conventional force is really on the level of a unit that is 1: special operations 2: has a selection process with a 60% attrition rate 3: is able to immediately send away anyone who doesnt live up to standards and 4: just to double tap: SPECIAL OPERATIONS ?
oh not to mention that being special operations means they fall under SOCOM so they get special operations training, access to special operations facilities, special operations budget, etc etc etc
this one marine on here seems to think so so figured id collect the input from a few other marines
marsoc marine: thanks for contributing to the stereotype that your branch is full of idiots... you serioulsy think marines attend ranger school (btw ranger qualified and being a ranger are 2 different things) as part of their boot camp? wow... just wow...
ducky. i never said how "tough i was". i'm asking about a few peoples opinions on how a conventional branch is trained and operates on the same level as an SOF... but whatever you say "though" guy
bravo: yeah you sound like your 12. tell me: if marines are better, what the **** happened with vigilant resolve? can you say "worst failure of OIF?" your history? lets see... you couldnt handle japan on your own so you needed the army to supply most of the troops, you cant handle an invasion on your own its why the army handled 90% of it for both invasions, you failed at fallujah before you got the army's help... yeah if anything the US doesnt need you guys. i never heard of a congressman suggest disbanding the army, but ive heard plenty about disbanding the marines. face it, you guys are a shallow image and thats it. and your right about the commercials, the army doesnt have to try to convince kids that you slay dragons to get them to join.
ducky: and what are you?
ducky: you're a tool, if you dont like teh question then dont answer it. also i think you need thicker reading glasses old man. i wasnt asking which was better trained, only a moron would argue that a marine infantryman is better trained than someone in an SOF. the question was how many marines actually believed that. dont like it, then **** off
again ducky: have you served? cause im thiniking no. you sound like you went through your life talking about the military without ever spending a day in it. also marine 5: like it or not the marines are a conventional branch. you can try to say your not because its an expeditionary branch blah blah blah but at the end of the day: its a conventional branch with conventional units... just one that will probably get scrapped within the next decade since marine higher ups are even admitting that the main points of your branch (such as amphibious assault) are not a priority.

You won't find a actual Marine who says that.
What you find, are wannabe marines who say silly things like that.

No. I've never heard any Marine compare themselves to be on the same level of the Rangers. I have heard them discuss the parallels of Marine and Army Infantry training.
What branch and mos are you?
Edit: As an Army Infantryman, I hold high esteem for Marines and esp Marine Infantry. They are a fine branch and they are very good at what they do. Everybody has a role to play and as long as there are still highly motivated men and women serving in the military there will always be these childish rivalries.

what form of shape are you in? Are you mentally difficult? (Why do I also have a feeling which you're below age 15?) Neither the army or the Marines go away their adult males in the back of. in case you prefer to work out action, connect the army as an infantryman. you're able to have a much better danger to get right into a combat. when you serve a some years, and you think of you have what it takes, attempt to pass to ranger college.

Our equipment may be outdated, but we still have what we need to get the job done. Our country would not send us to war without what we need to survive (today at least).
No, an infantry grunt is not the same as an army ranger.

This is an easy argument to resolve and one that is disputed every weekend on a joint service base. Ask a QUALIFIED Ranger to walk into a bar full of grunts and then ask a Marine to walk into a bar full of Rangers... whoever walks out versus getting carried out wins.

I have to AGREE with MR DUCK...on this one...
The Marines have Never been a Conventional Branch of anything...
Sounds like you couldn't make it past the Marine Recruiter,
as I know you are Not in the Rangers...either...just another
arm chair Troll...

"same level" - No !
Clearly the Marines are Far-Far Superior to those army fags
fyi : I have Never-Ever known a though guy that Had To explain to people how bad-@ss he is.
(so you can keep babbling about how great the rangers are since you feel you have to)
so... your not even a ranger yourself ??!!??
ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
sad And lame.
it's time for you to back to Mommies teat and then take a nap little boy
I'm the kind of guy that doesn't ask a stupid f*cking question and then pretend I already have the answer to it !!
ah... did I hurt your little feelings ?
in that case, the army will be perfect for you when you grow up
btw : you did Not ask about them being "better trained"
you asked if they are on the "same level"
remember ? :)
...one last thing,
the Marines more than make up for the slight difference in the amount of training
with their far Superior Warrior Attitude
(and they are smarter, plus better looking)
that's why they are Not on the "same level" as the rangers
