Why am I getting headaches when my blood pressure spikes?
I had a baby about 6 months ago and came down with preclampsia when I was pregnant. I never had problems with my blood pressure before this. Recently I have realized that my blood pressure is spiking I am getting a headache. My husband has a stressful job and when the **** hits the fan my blood pressure is spiking. Typically its around 110/60. Tonight it was 168/92. I come down with horrible headaches in my right side of my neck and base of my head. I have seen a dr about it and I have had a brain cat scan and everything was ok. I do not want to go on medicine for the spikes but do not know what else to do. Is there anything anyone can recommend for the headaches?

Try to limit stress and do your best to make time each day just for you. Whatever you used to do to relax before you got pregnant, you should continue to do. I know that it can be difficult to do with a family, but you just have to try to keep your stress level down. Make sure to eat right, get in some form of exercise each day, stay hydrated and stay away from smoking, drinking alcohol, etc. At night, try not to drink anything containing sugar and/or caffeine. Same with sweets. Stay away from these things, especially two to three hours before going to bed.
There are natural herbal remedies you can try, but make sure to clear this with your Dr. Do your own research into herbs used for stress reduction and hypertension. Make sure you're not going to take anything that may react with any medications you are or may be taking. Make sure none of the herbs you take will react with the others or any over the counter meds you may take. Of course you want to make sure you are not allergic to any herbs.
Hope this helps.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.
