Why do we wish upon stars?

Because there's a mystery about them, why are billions of stars/planets floating around aimlessly in nothingness? Why? How? Also we are made to believe God is above...

When a star shoots across the sky it is so beautiful and when you look up and can actually see stars, it's amazing, it looks like magic and people wish on magic

Shooting stars are like magic and those saying give people hope and allow people to think that there is a chance for their wildest dream to come true <3

For a long time, perhaps since the beginning of civilization, people have been intrigued with stars. They believed they held mystical properties that affected their lives, as in astrology. So maybe people thought they were powerful enough to grant wishes. Thats my guess.

Yes, but nothing that couldn't be defined by using simple coincidence. For example, just a few weeks ago at a SF Giants sport, I referred to as out from the bleachers to our lead-off hitter "hi there, Freddie, let's begin this thing off with a triple!" Fred Lewis, the batter in query, was about 470 ft from me, and couldn't in all probability hear me. He hit a triple. Divine intervention? Magic? Or a just right batter with quite a lot of pace?
