What is the incentive for politicians to not grant anything a public employee union wishes?
If they refuse, they stand to loose the votes and the campaign donations of that union. If they acquiesce, the burden falls on the taxpayers, the politician gets the votes and the money. So why would they say no?

Its kinda like having a local cop that is also the local drug dealer who do you turn to when you have a drug problem in the area?
