Only 22 Republicans voted against the Debt Limit increase. How can blame be assigned to the people that didn't get what they wanted for the downgrade by S&P? Does that make sense to anyone? Is it a bad idea to reduce spending when you are short on funds? Some will say just take more from the rich. Why not just reduce government spending?

NASA got us to the moon, and the military is effective but not efficient (hurry up and wait is a common saying). Social Security has provided retirement incomes, but much less than if those people had invested that money in the Stock Market. Is there any problem which the government has instituted a policy or program that succeeded? I really want to hear about at least one.

I was shocked, horrified. I was young and could not understand how we could let this happen.

It was never told that this man Lem "was captured near the site of a ditch holding as many as thirty-four bound and shot bodies of police and their relatives, some of which were the family of Gen. Loan's deputy and close friend." He was "responsible for the killing of South Vietnamese policemen and their families". Yet he was portrayed as the victim.

When I learned the truth, I was disgusted with those that would lie to promote a political agenda, especially when it resulted in the slaughter of millions of more people.

that earns $1,000,000 is right, equal, or fair? The million dollar person uses the same roads, sidewalks, libraries, police, fire department, etc., doesn't depend on social services, registers his very expensive car, pays huge amounts in property taxes.

If they refuse, they stand to loose the votes and the campaign donations of that union. If they acquiesce, the burden falls on the taxpayers, the politician gets the votes and the money. So why would they say no?

If the Federal government wants to cut or eliminate a benefit, entitlement, or subsidy from which you directly benefit in order to reduce the Federal budget, would you agree to make that sacrifice?

I heard an author on NPR reading from her book fantasizing about stabbing Karl Rove to death in a restaurant. A movie was made about the assassination of GW Bush and Bill Maher said Dick Cheney should have died from his heart attack. Now they are screaming about the level of vitriol from the right.
