You would treat it the same as if that < was an =.
6x < -12 + 3x
-3x -3x
3x < -12
/3 /3
x< -4
Graphically, the solution is to shade the side to the left of -4

the answer is X< - 4
you started with 6x<-12+3x
so subtract 3x on each side
then you have 3x<-12
to get x you must divide each side by 3
thats how I got the answer X<-4
