Can evolution and Christianity be easily reconciled?

Actually the poped (forget which) gave catholics "permission" to believe in evolution. Sadly there are christians who take the adam and eve creation story literally...EVERY religion has a far fetch creation story that is a fable explaining the coming of humankind/ creation of the world. So no, there's no room for debate with those ppl despite the obvious facts

First off evolution is still only a theory because in science nothing can be "proven" true because there may be more than one hypothesis that elicits the same results. For example gravity is still considered a theory even to this day. Secondly, your question deals more with ones perception of God than evolution itself. The same God that "impregnated a virgin" as you put it also sent the flood that wiped out all living creatures except for the small handful on the arc. He even gave us the rainbow to remind us he would never destroy us by water again. The theory of evolution dictates that over time all organisms developed from a less complex organism to a different organism. However it still poses the problem of where did the first creature come from? Pope John Paul the II stated that as humans we cannot understand all of God's tools and that evolution is one of them. There is evidence both for special creation theory and evolution and both of them have their own logical flaws.

Why is it that when scientists discover how to do something supernatural they claim to be like the God that they say doesn't exist. Maybe because maybe He does exist and knew how to do the same supernatural phenomenon long before mankind learned it.

Well, the bible doesn't contradicts evolution because it implies that adam was made from dirt and eve from adams rib, and that they were created directly by god. They did not come from any evolutionary line.

With religion, you can make up whatever you want and call if faith...so yes

christians accept the word of God as truth....if they don't believe it...I would doubt they are true christians.
