Garage sales are your best bet for hand me downs. Initially, it may take some time before you are able to locate a house that has the size clothes that you need but when you do find the right size, you can approach the owner and ask if they could call you when their child outgrows his clothes again because you'd be interested in buying them.

Another source may be your child's classmates (those with older siblings of the opposite sex or the ones who are bigger than yours). For a while I gave my child's outgrown clothes to the little sister of one of her classmates.

Garage sales are the cheapest. I get clothes at them for 25 or 50 cents all the time.

I also have a garage sale every year after I do my massive spring cleaning. I've brought in $300-$600 from those.

I don't know of any websites to trade but my goodwill sometimes has bag sales...fill a bag for $5. You can stuff a ton in one.

You could try a consignment shop. You can get store credit with the stuff you bring in.

You could put the old clothes on ebay and make a little money for some new ones.

I'm a single mom of 5 and garage sales are the cheapest way to go.

If you are looking to buy kids clothes, and want someone to hand you down on that. Also mentioned that you're looking for size 6/7 boy clothes and tried looking for them on craigslist/freecycle without any luck. For kids clothes there are sites out there which you can check.

Check out where ever you live...most cities have stores that buy & sell used kids clothes, shoes ect. Look it up on the internet. In Wisconsin there;s one called New 2 you Kids. The other person mentioned a name of a store. Try it, then you can go & look at the cloths before you buy or trade yours in.

ThredUp is a website for parents to swap kid's clothes and toys. It's free to join and everything is just five dollars plus shipping (about $11). And you don't pay per item, you pay per box of items. The website explains it much better.

There's this store that my mom used to buy clothes for me from. The clothes aren't that bad, most of them look new. It's called Kid to Kid. There's not many of them around anymore see if there are any in your area.
