Question about Jimi Hendrix?

Okay, so we all know Hendrix was a guitar genius. But, Do you think somewhere inside he knew how good he was? I know he always thought he didn't deserve the fame he had/has. But, do you think he knew in one way or another that he was a great guitarist?

Update:

@Zimmy: That is completely true. I too am a fan of Dylan and I've seen tons of video's of him and his ego. Like in "Don't Look Back" when he purposely wipes the floor with Donovan's face because he doesn't want to be outdone. If you haven't seen it here's a link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc6HcA6kEJc

Update 2:

Oh, and @Zimmy, I have another question about Dylan on my page that I think you might be able to answer. Wanna give it a look and if you can wanna answer it?

Of course he did. Every great artist has a big ego. I don't care who they are.

Edit: Haha yeah I've seen this footage before, I'm a massive Bob Dylan fan. Good to see that you are a fan too :)

Hendrix was a very humble guy, and was visibly uncomfortable when people would praise him (just check out his interview on the Dick Cavett show). He would also quite readily cite the players whom he stole his licks from (most notably Albert King), and often sang the praises of other players as a response to people calling him "the best". One such player he had an admiration for was a young Billy Gibbons, whom Hendrix befriended back when Billy was in the band Moving Sidwalks.

In my experience, the best musicians share that same humble attitude. The better you are, the more you realize you have to learn.
