  • Are there any poetry readings in southern MA or northern RI?

I'm looking for some readings to attend and possibly participate in. I'm hoping for one in the Blackstone valley, but can travel as far north as Worcester. As for RI anything north of Providence is good. Also, I can go to something around Fitchburg, Which is on the NH border. Thanks guys and gals.

  • Song to my dying father.?

    The way we walk

    down the wide old path

    down to the open river

    holds a key to this

    pain we feel

    and it takes away

    all our wrath

    I'll fill you up

    A gold river pack

    to quench that thirst

    of yours

    I'll open up

    the shining window,

to fill that heart of yours

    where else can I go

    what else can I do

    pull the blinds

    up and set

    on the stove

    what else can I do

    Do for you

    the new grey hairs

    upon your face

    wisdom not

    too old.

    I'll find that

    golden pearl of love

    for you to hold

    dust on the keys,

    and tears on the strings

    of this rusted

    old guitar

    i'll hold your hand

    through it all

    until the angels sing.

  • Father Dying from Heart Failure?

My father is dying... His heart's failing. He was admitted to the ICU on friday because his lungs filled up with fluid and his heart muscle is too weak and is fading. Today, They tried to do an operation going into the artery in his leg up to his heart, but he went into cardiac arrest and his lungs failed. They stabilized him and all. But, he is sitting in the hospital dying. They give him two weeks tops. He's only 41. I mean, we had our differences and all. He hasn't been the best father. Not even close. But, he's still my father. And I love him... What the **** can I do? What the hell do I do? I'm only 16. Someone please help..

  • NEED HELP QUICK!!! PLEASE HELP!!?

So, I have strep throat. I'm at my dads and I don't have any antibiotics. I usually take Penicillin, but I don't have any and I can't get to the doctors so they can give me some, until tomorrow. My dad told me to take these antibiotics he was given for a staff infection. It's called IC Sulfameth/TMP DS Tab. It's not mine and I have no prescription for it and have never taken it before. To me, all signs say "HELL NO" and to wait for tomorrow. But, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!

  • Where do they get synthetic Melatonin from?

I know that there are two types of Melatonin out there. Natural, which they get from other animals. And synthetic. But, where do they get the synthetic from? And if it's synthetic how can they still market it as a natural sleep aid? Thanks for the answers.

  • In "I'm Not There" was this line a reference to the Bob Dylan song?

To those have seen the movie, when Dylan (Well, Jude Quinn is the name of the character) and the crew are riding in the car down the street and Allen Ginsberg pulls alongside them in his weird golf car looking vehicle, When Ginsberg leaves one of Dylan's (Or Quinn's) friends, I believe his name is Sonny (Or Sunny not too sure how to spell it) says "See you later Allen Ginsberg" Is that a reference to the Bob Dylan song from the Basement Tapes? I always thought it was, but was never really sure. I know the question is kind of dumb, but I have been thinking about it for a while now and figured I would ask.

  • Was Allen Ginsberg wealthy?

Being a poet, I know it's a career more of expression and doing what you like rather than monetary gain. But, between the writing of "Howl", It's publication, a lifetime of poems, and Ginsberg's death, was he ever wealthy? This time slot is from 1955 to 1997. So, I could see how he could have made quite a bit of money in that time. The question has been eating at my brain for some reason. I can't figure out why. But, Can someone help me out here?

  • My parents have a problem with me being Catholic. Help? Advice?

So, I was raised as a baptist, then in my early teenage years I did not believe in God. About a year ago I began believing again and converted to Catholicism. Both of my parents are Baptists and so is my father's father. Both of my grandmother's are Catholics and are happy I converted. But, my father is upset that I am a Catholic and openly mocks my religion. He makes fun of my beliefs and practices and such. My grandfather even told me I'm going to hell for not being a Baptist. My mother doesn't mock my beliefs/practices because, she too was raised Catholic. But, I can tell she is a little upset over my choice in religion. I just don't understand why they feel this way. Both parties are Christians. I know some of our views and beliefs are different, but for the most part we're not very different. Can someone, anyone, help me with this situation? Please help...

  • Is diphenhydramine natural?

I have trouble sleeping and recently started taking Melatonin. It is the first sleep aid I have ever taken. but, I have forgotten my Melatonin at home tonight and unable to get it. A friend just offered my a diphenhydramine capsule. I know it's in Benadryl and all. But, I basically refuse to take anything that's not natural. I have some "Sleepy time" tea. I was wondering if diphenhydramine is natural. If it's not I'm just taking some tea and going to bed. Thanks for any and all help.

  • Lsd slang question. A little assistance please?

So, I've heard that if you're at a psychedelic band show (Much like the Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and so on) and you want to buy Acid (Lsd those who don't know) you would ask "Do you have change for a penny?" I was wondering if this is at all true. I listen to these bands and have been to Furthur, Ratdog, Phish, and Phil Lesh and Friends shows and have never heard anyone utter the phrase. Thank you for your answers. And please, no hate.

    Peace and Love, my friends.

  • Question about Jimi Hendrix?

Okay, so we all know Hendrix was a guitar genius. But, Do you think somewhere inside he knew how good he was? I know he always thought he didn't deserve the fame he had/has. But, do you think he knew in one way or another that he was a great guitarist?

  • Did/Does Bob Dylan have a speech problem?

I have heard that Bob Dylan has a speech problem. That he stammers a lot and used to have a slight lisp. I also heard he had other speech problems. Is that true?

  • Can you understand this poem or is it all just mindless rambling?

Fall Away, Darling: By, Haggard Laggard (Me)

Fading away over the dusty hills of Maine,

    Propelling forward towards,

    The smokey mountains ahead.

Trying to find themselves in a song,

Searching for their souls among writings,

    Ideal upon ideal,

    Bringing forward a new view,

    Of their worlds,

    Dancing among their thoughts.

    Racing minds trailing along,

Thumping the hard cover of days,

Burning stacks of cash to show rebellion against,

    Forlorn proverbs of society.

    Throwing their slapstick out,

    of the rickety building tops,

    Endings for-bringing endings,

    Seen over the roofs,

Mending into the asphalt with pandemics,

of disease and mounds of mindsets.

    Rebound;

    Bouncing along the hallways,

    Calling for your reaches,

    These thoughts;

    Come and thrive.

    -----------------------------

I need to know what you think. Is it at least kind of understandable? I want people to be able to find their own meaning. But I don't want it to sound like a mindless ramble. Also, sorry for the length. Thank you in advance for your input.
