Song to my dying father.?

The way we walk

down the wide old path

down to the open river

holds a key to this

pain we feel

and it takes away

all our wrath

I'll fill you up

A gold river pack

to quench that thirst

of yours

I'll open up

the shining window,

to fill that heart of yours

where else can I go

what else can I do

pull the blinds

up and set

on the stove

what else can I do

Do for you

the new grey hairs

upon your face

wisdom not

too old.

I'll find that

golden pearl of love

for you to hold

dust on the keys,

and tears on the strings

of this rusted

old guitar

i'll hold your hand

through it all

until the angels sing.

Sorry for it not looking too pretty. Just wrote it. Tell me what you think.

Update:

Do you think it is good enough to sing to him?

i think it is wonderful. it has shades of w.b. yeats in it - i don`t know if that was intentional. could make for a sweet and tender song but would have to hear the melody! without doubt it`s good enough to read to him or to put on paper and have him read it himself.
