Where do they get synthetic Melatonin from?

I know that there are two types of Melatonin out there. Natural, which they get from other animals. And synthetic. But, where do they get the synthetic from? And if it's synthetic how can they still market it as a natural sleep aid? Thanks for the answers.

Synthetic means it's made in a laboratory. There is no legal definition of the word "natural", but they probably call it natural because melatonin is a substance that is normally in your body.
