In a class election for class president, 4 people ran for office. A total of 875 people voted. The winner had 75 votes more than one candidate, 84 votes more than another candidate and 106 more than the 4th candidate. How many votes did the winner receive?

number of votes for winner = x
other candidates x-75, x-84, and x-106
add all of the votes together and then equal 875
so
x + x-75+x-84+x-106 = 875
this simplifies to 4x = 1140
divide by 4 to get x = 285
m
