Can they still fill my cavity?

Ok, I have a large cavity in one of my molars. It hurts very badly. On the same tooth, a little of the side is missing.. I know, very bad. Could they still fill that like a regular cavity? Or what would they do? And how do I know if I have an infection or not? Its beginning to give me an ear ache and headache. Please help, I'm very scared but my mouth hurts so bad :(

Well first they should take an xray to see if the tooth is infected if it is they'll do a root canal or send to you a specialist to get it done, then you'll need to go back into the dentist to get a crown put on. It is very important to get a crown after a root canal because there is no vital nerves or blood vessels going to the tooth anymore which will cause the tooth to be brittle and can cause it to break easily. Don't listen to anyone saying a root canal is painful, it's not a lot of my patients can't believe they were nervous coming in for a root canal and expected it to be a lot worse. Good Luck!

No . If the cavity is reallt big, & it can make your ears hurt & give you head aches, they'll have to pull it out . the tooth is severely damaged . Does it hurt when you chew on it ? Does it make your head sting ?

Don't worry . I got a root canal, and a crown . I've been miserable for months . Be lucky to have yours pulled it . That's the best solution . They'll numb it so you won't feel any pain AT ALL . you'll see him putting the teeth pliers, don't know what thier called, into your mouth, but, you won't feel anything . trust me <3
