How high are the chances of a belly piercing getting rejected?

I'm nearly 15 and I'm super sure I want a belly piercing. I'm scared, not because of the pain but the fact that there is a chance my body may reject the piercing. I understand there is no way to tell if it will be rejected until it actually starts to happen, but i'm wondering how HIGH are the chances of this happening? 1 in 3 chance, 1 in 10 chance, what? Thanks(:

PS - what does the area look like after a rejected piercing is removed? Does it look terribly scarred? Pictures would be great(:

With navel piercings this only tends to happen if the piercing is too shallow. As long as your go to an experienced piercer you should be OK. You'll know about it if your piercing is rejecting because it'll start coming to the surface of the skin, this means you can remove the jewelery before any permanent damage is done. After the wound heals you will just have 2 scars where the bar went through and you could even have it re-pierced if you want!

    Hope this helped :)

I freaked out about how much mine would hurt before I got mine done, don't worry your not alone :) It is most definitely worth it! I LOVE mine and I cant imagine not having it! This is how the piercing goes. They take you into the room and get you to roll up your shirt (tucking it under your bra works heaps well ;) ) Then they get you to relax completely and they mark where its going to go. Once its marked they lay you down on the table thingy. This is the most scary part. They get the clamp and pinch your belly button where they are piercing it. This is probably the most painful but, and it barely hurts, its just like a squeeze. Then they make you relax, and push the needle through. I didn't even feel mine, it was just like a tiny prick. Once the needle is through, they attach your jewellery and slide it through the hole while they pull out the needle. Then they put the ball on the bar and your done! Trust me its the best feeling when you look in the mirror at it for the first time! Ok, now cleaning... 'Some people say to use sea salt mixture, but I find that just getting an antiseptic spray from the piercing shop or chemist works just as well and its heaps easier. When you clean it, squirt the spray at both top and bottom of the bar. Make sure you give the bar a good wiggle and move it up and down a fair bit. Add more spray if you want, but make sure it gets in the hole. Don't be surprised if you bleed a little during your first clean, I did :) Its best if you keep a bandage patch over the piercing for the first week, it stops thread from you clothing and dirt and stuff getting in there :) After about 2-3 months you can go swimming and change the jewellery and that :) I hope this helped, sorry if you didn't want ALL that info, but now you know pretty much everything :P Bailey

Migration (jewellery moving through the skin to a more 'comfortable' position) Sometimes this will lead to rejection, but not often. Keep the piercing happy, (leave it alone, keep it clean without over washing, don't submerge in dirty water - baths, the ocean, swimming pools, and you'll have a good chance at keeping it. :)

a belly button peircing is a surface peircing, because it basically sits in your skin they all soon enough reject, i had my eye brow peirced which is simular, and it was rejecting, u can tell when its rejecting because it pushes it out, but with good care you can stop it for rejecting for a while, when i first took out my eyebrow ring there seemed to be a bit of scarring but now its completely normal so chances are it wont scar & also the size of the holes are tiny so you wouldnt see it anyway..as long as you dont play with it or touch it and clean it on a regular basis, you should be good =]

heey im 17 and i got a belly button piercing last year and with the right care it will not get infected. The first month i just lightly put some anticeptic on it and also just watch out for when you get out of the shower or get back from swimming that you dab it lightly with your towel and there really isn't a big chance it will get infected.

My friend's piercing did get infected tho and it was like a black bump filled with like puss sooooo its kinda gross if it does get infected but if you take care of the piercing for the first year or until it heals there really is no reason for it to.
