If you pay off any fines for any tickets, always keep the receipts, and make sure the citation numbers are on the receipts, remember...these are humans entering information into the computer. If you didn't pay off the fine before the court date on the citation, then you would have been required to appear in court, and if you didn't, then you would have received an additional citation for a failure to appear, even if you paid off the fines afterwards. It's like getting hit with a double whamy. Make sure you get fines paid off before the court date on the citation, or at least show up for court, even if you don't have the money at the time or else you end up with a FTA.

If you paid off the fines before the court date on the citation, you need to find that receipt and take it to the courts and show them you paid the fine off before you had to go to court and they should probably dismiss the FTA.

If you had a court date and did not appear, even if you paid the fines in advanced, you still have to appear in court, depending on the charge! Sounds like a DWI charge?
