How much ice needs to melt off Antarctica and Greenland?

In order for those land masses to rise up enough to cause global earthquakes?

    When China built that huge dam it backed up enough water to cause major earthquakes all around the area. The Antarctic and Greenland land masses rising up just an inch or so would upset the entire shape of the planet.

    Especially if it happened QUICKLY such as from a breaking ice dam. Which has caused earthquakes in the little island of Iceland.

    Ah yes. I pre-empted the maxbushian foaming at the mouth response to this study a few days ago with a question of my own. The point is the models WERE based on real world information, all that was available at the time they were produced. The new info now reduces some of the uncertainty in the previous study by improving parameters relating to salinity and melt rates. It will be incorporated into a new model, which will be more accurate than the last one. Or perhaps you think nobody should bother with another model maxbushian? Because models are big and hard and scary and you just don't understand how they work so they should all just be scrapped right?

    In my personal esto-economical calculations (and I just made that term up off the cuff, dam I'm good) there would only need to be a 1.987% increase in total melt-action (and I just made that term up, too, *taps fists*) for the entire world to descend into total and utter anarchy of the very barbaric and sometimes sweatily erotic way, but I digress, where was I? oh yeah, babes.

    Many areas in the world are currently going through isostatic rebound. There are a few geologists on this site that I'm sure can give a better explanation though and give you estimates and measurements of where and how fast various parts of the world are rising.

    Melting or none melting ice will have no effect on whether or not land masses rise or subside.This is caused by tectonic plate movement.earthquakes cannot occur globally,they only occur along the fault lines where these tectonic plates meet.

    Assuming rise is equal to a percentage of ice to tectonic plate mass in those regions, the ice mass is total geomasskg=tectplatemasskg+IcemassKg, geomasskg/IcemassKg(meters over sea levelX)=Ice mass to elevation ratio, GeomassKg-(IcemassKg/x)=meters over sea level+Tectplatemass elevation rise.

    There is no relation to ice mass and tectonic motion; tectonic motion is a geo-thermal reaction to plate compression due to geo-thermal loss. Ice mass has a less than one percent weight ratio to tectonic plate mass, so differences would be 1% of historical activity or less.
