Magic: the gathering deck ideas?
ok I've built a lot of decks, and I just haven't built one that I really like, not saying there not good because all my friends have issues beating them, I'm just looking for a fun deck to play with so cards don't have to be legal, however I don't want to use unhinged and unglued cards, so what deck types do you recommend, any suggestion would be appreciated and I would also appreciate it if you would name a few cards that would work well in them so that I would know where to start and maybe a brief description of how you would like the deck to work
p.s. I'd rather stay away from mill, discard, and counter

Deck Ideas...
Well M11 decks have come with their own mini themes...
>>THEME 1<<
One of the little noticed ones was the
Goblin Tunneler and the Battle-Rattle Shaman.
You could further expand upon this idea of making creatures that start small unblockable and then ramp them up into fatties. Any creature with an ability such as Fiery Hellhound, or Chandra's Spitfire could get large and hit unhindered thanks to Goblin Tunneler.
At first the Tunneler goes unnoticed (unlike a whispersilk cloak), until you hit them once with a beefed up Hellhound.
>>THEME 2<<
Another theme could be to combine the Eventide Untappers with the current Heavy Arbalest.
The Duergar Mine-Captain and Patrol Signaler each cost 2 to untap themselves. So you're in essence paying 2 to deal 4 damage (or 4 to deal 6, 6 to deal 8) to creatures or players.
The Hateflayer has the bonus that its untap ability deals damage as well. So you tap with the Arbalest to deal 2, then pay (3) to untap it and deal 5, then can tap again to deal 2 more.
This is far more efficient then having to pay the 4 mana to re-equip the Arbalest so that your creatures untap.
>>THEME 3<<
The Eldrazi Dump
The goal of this deck is to get your own Eldrazi into your graveyard so that you can use cards like rise from the grave or better yet Apprentice Necromancer to put them into play.
You could use what ever Discard Cards and Eldrazi you liked.
Another card that combos well with the costly Eldrazi is the Body Snatcher, as it acts as both a discard card and the card that puts it into play.
>>THEME 4<<
Myr Mana Ramp
Using cards such as Myr Galvanizer, Silver(Leaden) Myr, Iron Myr, and Palladium Myr you gain access to an unlimited supply of mana.
The object is to get two Myr Galvanizer's out onto the field with a Palladium Myr (this is the minimum of what you need)
you can then go into an endless cycle of mana ramping. You then play a spell with X in it's cost. (FIREBALL!, Banefire, Blaze, Conflagrate, Demonfire)
Find your artifact/ combo pieces with either Fabricate / Diabolic Tutor.
As for common themes out there that are still fun to play.
>>Common Theme 1<<
Ajani Ramp.
The idea here is simple, get the Ajani Pridemate to be a big creature with other life gaining cards. Ajani Goldmane, Ajani's Mantra, Souls Attendant, Lonely Missionary, Solemn Offering, etc.
You can then attempt to protect him with cards such as Brave the Elements, Safe Passage, Whispersilk Cloak, or splash green for additional life gaining cards and Canopy Cover.
>>Common Theme 2<<
Death Touch!
Simply include every decent death touch creature you can find, then add in spells with provoke abilities and creature control. The goal is to simple erase all your opponent's creatures so they have nothing to block with.
Vampire Nighthawk, Greater Basilisk, Giant Scorpion are just a few of the recently printed options.
p.s. I helped make a deathtouch deck that my friend uses on a regular basis... not much fun to play against...

Several times I've come up with the same problem, because I don't like playing the same boring deck at FNM every week. Here is a couple of the thought processes I go through when deciding to build a deck: -I'll see a card I want to play with and decide to build a deck around it. For instance, with the planeswalker Venser, the Sojourner, I decided to build a deck that revolves around creatures with "enter the battlefield" effects for his +2, such as Stonehorn Dignitary, Sunblast Angel and Blade Splicer. -I have a theme that I want to build around. Before the rotation of Standard, I saw some cool elf creatures and decided to make an elf deck, searching for all the best Elf creatures in Standard and putting them together and maximizing their usefulness. -I find a cool combo between two cards and decide to try building a deck that lets me use the combo. The most popular example is the infinite combo of Splinter Twin + Deceiver Exarch, but another one I discovered was Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank for infinite damage as early as turn 3. I built cards around those two to try and make the combo work as efficiently as possible. Those are only a few examples. It really depends at how you look at cards and the game in general. Depending on your budget, you can also netdeck, which is looking on the Internet for decks to play and buying the cards you need for it. If you want fun Standard decks to play at the moment, I recommend UR Delver or UG Dredge, or the always budget-friendly Monored burn (aka RDW, or Red Deck Wins). Good luck and have fun playing!

Well, that pretty much only leaves Aggro, Ramp, and trick combo decks.
My two favorite decks ever have been a Red/Black I called "Bizarre Coil", and a White/Blue/Green built around Platinum Angel.
Bizarre Coil was a combo of Immortal Coil (You lose the game if your Graveyard is empty), Bazaar Trader (creature that can give Immortal Coil to an opponent), and Bojuka Bog (a land that can empty a graveyard when it enters the battlefield). It also included cards like Act or Treason and Mark Of Mutiny, which could also be combined with Bazaar Trader to make the theft of the creature permanent.
The Platinum Angel deck's goal was to get Plat Angel on the field with Canopy Cover or Whispersilk Cloak on it and trigger the original Elspeth's third ability (making the Angel both untargettable and Indestructible). It used cards like Knight of the White Orchid for an early blocker and land puller, Wall of Denial as a beefy blocker, Elspeth can provide chump blockers. and a Dauntless Escort/Day of Judgment combo to wipe your opponent's creatures. Vines of Vastwood was there to give a Shroud-like effect as an Instant until you could get Canopy Cover or Whispersilk attached.

Use Platinum Angels x4, Whispersilk Cloaks x4, Darksteel Plates x4, Wrath of God x2, Day of Judgment x2 and Nevinyarral's Disk x2, Ajani Goldmane x2, Serra Angels x4, Sun Titans x4, Deathless Angels x2 Arrests x4 and Pacifisms x4. That leaves room for 22 Plains. Essentially, a White/Artifact/Angel/Control/Field Destruction deck.

I have to say that the most dominant these days are Red/green valakut and Blue/white control, but that's expensive with jace and gideon and all; but I play mono green, so it depends what you like
