Ice rink closing for summer...what to do!!!?

So, I recently discovered that the ice rink I figure skate @ is going to get rid of the ice until September (during the spring and summer they're doing indoor soccer and stuff). What do I do? The next closest rink is an hour and a half away, and with gas prices going up, my parents said they're not going to drive me. (btw...I'm not old enough to drive) They said the most they would take me is maybe once a month! I might go to one skating camp, but my parents still aren't even sure about that. What can I do? Are there any sports besides roller blading (which for some reason messes up my figure skating) that I can do? Anything I can to do continue to advance in figure skating? Or anyway I can convince my parents to take me? I've been paying for the lessons, so getting lessons isn't a problem, It's mainly just the distance and gas. Also, my dad said he doesn't like taking me because it waste his time! Help Please!!!! I need all the advice I can get! Sorry you had to listen to me ramble on!

Maybe you should talk to them about how much it means to you and tell them you'll do chores and stuff and maybe find a little job you can do such as mowing lawns or something. You could even try looking into making profits on eBay. You could buy stuff in brand name stores for really cheap and sell for a little more than what you payed for and make a little bit of money that way. Anything you can do and also strech everyday with strength and cardio workouts and don't forget balance workouts too. Hope this helps :)

If you can't get to a rink and skate, and you don't want to take up roller skating or roller blading, your next best bet would be bicycling. This will help keep your leg strength and cardiovascular endurance up over the summer.

Or you could take up running, but I think bicycling is more fun. Wear a helmet.

try getting into other sports, like the ones offered (like indoor soccer and stuff)
