Don't politics take years to have an effect on the economy?

Hence, 12 years of Reagonmics is what created the boom of the '90s. The 8 years of Clintonmics created the decline and eventual bust of the "00's". And W's inability to stop the Demo train of spend spend spend create this quagmire we are in now?

You can think of it that way, or you can look at the policies put in place by each one which indicates otherwise.

Stop thinking with a Republican bias, it'll get you more accurate answers.

Beneficial policies take longer and generally have less effect. Destructive policies work more quickly and are more hurtful than the beneficial policies are helpful. Therefore, it is easier for a President to harm the economy than it is for him to help it. Fir the most part, he economy will go in a direction on it's own based on the sentiment of the people. However the fluctuations of the economy can be altered and perverted by politicians.

Also, I forgot to add,. By YOUR logic, Jimmy Carter created the boom of the 80s.

Some policies take years to have an effect, but some policies are more immediate. For example, if the government outlawed a certain sector out of the economy, like taco trucks, you'd immediately have a large number of people out of work.

That's a pretty odd way of looking at things.

Reganomics ran up our national debt higher than any time up to that point and began a huge concentration of wealth at the top income levels.

Clinton actually had a balanced budget by having responsible levels of taxation and made drastic cuts in military spending (among other things).

Bush ran up huge debts and cut taxes at the same time.

Obama is working to keep our recession from turning into a depression, and we are on the road to recovery.

It depends on the policy how long it takes to ripple through the system. For what you are citing I can assure you that every single congressman and prez since LBJ has done nothing positive to help Americans prosper.

Some of it does take years. But most takes 24 months or so.

No. Politicians can raise taxes on cigarettes and the price will be up before the tax hike even goes through

You mean like the price of oil has an effect on the price of gas.

The prices are going up today but the oil prices quoted today are for the end of April delivery.
