Why is it that the person you really love ends up as a friend,and you have to have your heart ripped out watching them in a relationship with someone else?

It has been a dawgs age since this has happened to me
and I am not finding an easy answer, as the question is almost rhetorical.
Keep that friendship dear without causing animosity between the two, a friendship can last a life time
while relationships come and go...be there for her should she find her heart broken, show her your heart
as you listen, for it will be you she comes to if you keep their relationship in peace.
I say all this without knowing your age,
you must know that I am older than I feel at heart and some fossils too
(I am sorry I missed your last post...I read the anguish in it along with the faith in healing)
