Who cares? There's more important holidays. Instead of replacing it with another holiday Congress could eliminate it and it wouldn't bother me.

the vikings from norway and sweden were here in ad 300 or so, and columbus didn't "discover" america it was there anyway, he found it and it was anyway full of people
