Why do people make such a Big Deal about Marjiuana?

I'm 20 now and I didn't start smoking til my Senior year of high school. Before I smoked, I considered weed a bad thing and to NEVER do it. I played soccer all year round since I was 8 years I was very athletic and I didn't drink a sip of alchohol or smoke til after my last season of high school soccer. My friends got me into smoking and I kinda look back on it and wish I didn't but at the same time I'm glad I did, because I was a very serious person throughout all those years and it loosened me up. Once I got to college I ended up smoking like every single day and skipped class all the time, but I don't think the weed brought me to do that. People say weed makes you stupid! Too all those people I say this...Have you tryed it, because if you haven't then STFU and do not judge someone who does it. Some people can't do it, because it can have different affects on people. Weed helped me relax and see the world differently, I'm not an idiot though. There were multiple times where I was offered to do Cocaine, Acid, and pills and I turned them all down. You know why because I smoke weed...I dont do drugs! "Real drugs" My mind has expanded thanks to weed and I have not noticed single thing that  would make me clean up shop and get it out of my life. I'm young and your only young once. I get so sick of people treating it like it is a hard drug that can handicap your life. I live a healthy and productive life, I workout and I go to a music/arts school to get a degree in audio engineering which was always my dream in high school. So before you judge someone who smokes weed as being a lowlife and is going absolutely no where in the near future. Think again!!  Funny thing is I only drink like once a month, you know why because I stick to weed. I don't smoke cigs or anything like that, but like I said if you haven't tryed it then how can you treat as such a bad thing. I'm not planning on doing this forever, eventually I will want kids and a family and that is the time to stop and focus on more important things. Until then I'm gonna live life to the fullest and no one is gonna tell me differently. **** ALL YOU HATERS!!!

It's because people refuse to trust what they don't know or understand, myself included. For example, I don't trust the police or the government because I don't really know or understand either of them. Sure, I know who the leader of my country is and who the leaders of his opposing parties are, and sure, I've dealt with police officers before - both as a victim and an accused criminal, who is later proven innocent - but I can't trust either them 'cause I don't truly understand who they are and what their objective is, for lack of a better term. This naturally causes me to be downright furious with both of these people when justice isn't being brought to the forefront of the situation. 

To link back to the question at hand, the same thing goes for marijuana. People don't trust it because they don't understand it, so when someone they can mildly trust (aka the government) tells them about the effects of "the drug", they assume that it's true and condemn marijuana like it's Satan's Sinister Stock. Unfortunately for the government, I trust and favour the Stock.
