As Physics AQA A - Inside the atom!?

A 63Cu29 (A=63,Z=29) atom loses two electrons. for the ion formed,

a) calculate its charge in C

b)state the number of nucleons it contains

c) calculate its specific charge in Ckg^-1.

I need the working out for the questions above.

cheers.

    a) The overall charge off the atom is neutral, so if it has lost 2 electrons, it now has 2 more protons than electrons so is positively charged. Q = 2 x charge of electron = 3.2 x 10^-19 C

    b) No of protons = No of electrons = Atomic number = 29

    No of neutrons = Mass no - Atomic no = 63 - 29 = 34

No of nucleons = 63 = Atomic no.

    c) Q = 3.2 x 10^-19 C

    Specific charge = Q/mass = Q/ (29 x Mass of proton) + (34 x Mass of neutron) + (29 x Mass of electron)

    Hope this helps...

    The question pretty simple....

Now the number of electrons in a neutral atom of copper is 29, i.e. Its atomic number....now two electrons are lost so the number of electrons are now 27. Now we know that each electron has -1.6*10^(-19).....so the ion of copper will have 2*(+1.6*10^(-19)) which is equal to 3.2*10^(-19)....now you must be wondering why 2e charge, that is because when two electrons will be removed, there will be two more protons than number of electrons.....now for any atom the number of nuleons is always equal to the atomic mass number i.e. 69 in this case....the number of protons and neutrons are known as nucleons collectively....now for calculating specific charge, divide the charge we found by 63*10^(-3) i.e. Mass of copper atom in kilogram.....so

the answer will be 0.0046*10^(-17)Ckg^-1.....that will be all....

it became the least confusing ingredient ive ever performed in my existence , and omg comparable! i regarded to work out if i had commencing place! and then i peeked around to work out if i had a similar questions as surely everyone else! :L which i ovvie did. yet yeah! youl get the marks for fission, it became on the mark scheme of a prior paper. its extremely stressful reason i became totally arranged for this examination to get an A* and now it form of feels the grade boundries would be rediculously intense!!! it is somewhat stressful the further wasnt too undesirable the two and there became like one question related to a calculator! mayyn this sucks haha btw, what did everone get for the artwork performed of the motorcycle? i've got been given somewhat perplexed on that one yet its purely a million mark aha x
