Switching over from Vegetarian to Vegan?

I have been a vegetarian for years, (Except on occasion, chicken) but I recently discovered the horrors that go into the Egg & dairy industry so I want to become a Vegan But I keep having these urges for dairy things, or things with cheese on them, like Cheetos.

Is there replacements for all these things? Like Cheetos, cheese ravioli, Ranch dressing, mayonnaise, ETC.

Also, where would I get this? Not any online stores, though. Maybe a store website with a store locater?

Oh, I'm also looking for a BBQ sauce, I checked the ingredients & they're wasn't anything bad. (I use BBQ sauce for the "alternative" chicken) Speaking of Alternative chicken, what do you think of this brand? http://www.gardein.com/index.php I LOVE this stuff(:

I'm also still weaning myself off of dairy products (I'm over eggs) Is that okay? I still went ahead & ate the last bit of Mac 'n Cheese, & I still have Ice cream. (Do they have Dairy free Ice cream?)

If there's anything else I need to know, please tell me (:

Thanks(:

There is dairy-free of nearly everything, however, I think it is best to avoid things that are processed in general and stick to whatever is least far removed from its original form. I do not like fake cheese, fake meat, etc. But it is available if you feel it is necessary.

I never ever crave cheese and I think its because I grew up eating marmite- it's salty, tangy, rich, and full of Umami taste which is what cheese is known for.

Now, I eat marmite on buttered toast ( vegnbuter) and it's totally gorgeous- it's the same rich, mouthwatering flavour and tang that makes your tastebuds water.

Also miso paste- ummm love that stuff- I eat it from the tub plain! Also spread on bagels and use as cheese in pizza or whatever.

Almond cheese is good and soycheese.

A lot of those imitation cheese shreds are really good and cheap lunch places actually use those and not dairy cheese.

Soy ice cream - So Delicious.

    Rice Dream

Tofutti- theres' tons of ice cream which is tasty and nowhere near dairy.

There is : Dairy free ice cream, cheese, margarine, mayonnaise etc.

Just like anything in life, start slow cut out dairy one meal at a time. Then get rid of it all. It'll be worth it, if you really want to achieve your goal.

I've been a vegetarian for years and never once craved any type of meat. Animal PRODUCTS, like cheese, I think are fine if you buy them from local farms or farmer's markets. It's one thing to buy it from a corporation and another if you actually see the animals yourself. Anyway...depending on where you live, there are lots of places that sell vegan versions of all those things. Mainly Whole Foods. But try your other local, smaller, cheaper health food stores.

I would make the transition slowly to let your body and your tastebuds adjust. There are more ethically produced eggs and dairy products, if you so desire, but if you want to cut them out entirely, there are many egg substitutes you can use for baking and such. As far as dairy and cheese products go, you can get versions made with almond, rice, and soy milks, or other fortified beverages. good luck!
