Will fallout from the Fukushima nuclear plant eventually reach the United States via the Jet Stream?
What will be the effect? How pronounced will this effect be on the East Coast of the United States?

Yes, the fallout particles from Fukushima Nuclear Plant will be carried by the jetstream to the United states, Canada and eventually the world. Sounds crazy but it's true. Once the fallout reaches the stratosphere it will spread across the globe. The amount of fallout particles that reach North America all depends on the how the pacific jetstream moves in the next couple of days. The amount of fallout particles that reach the east coast should be very, very small. If the fuel rods at the plant do melt then the amount of particles delivered by the jet stream will increase for North America. The major factor in this is distance. The Islands in the Pacific Ocean such as Marcus Island and Midway Island that lay under the jetstream from Japan will get the biggest amounts of fallout particles. You can follow the pacific jetstream by going to the following web site.

It's possible. What may be of an even greater concern is what will happen to the United States if a similar natural disaster strikes the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in California.

If Balloons could properly be despatched over for the period of WWI via Japan to the Western US via the jet pass and air pass, then why don't you some thing lighter than the balloons, like radiation, have the skill to do the comparable element. I published 3 hyperlinks to articles bringing up this balloon crossing below. have faith your instincts, in the previous trusting yet another voice, inclusive of mine. analyze it to verify whether it quite is achieveable and don't enable yet somebody else help you comprehend what's inaccurate or actual for you! If the worst got here approximately to you and your loved ones with radiation and yet an expert or finished panel of folk had reported in any different case, is there any thank you to alter for the wear achieved to you and your loved ones if this did come to break them with radiation? this would not recommend to in basic terms panic and pass nuts, it capacity to get knowledgeable and make your guy or woman determination to your loved ones. What could desire to it injury, to prepare or to analyze extra approximately this radiation and what it may do to you and others. The least all this does is provide you an coaching and help to be extra arranged for what-ever occurs, helpful or adverse. and you are able to take it one step further by being arranged for any radiation sooner or later. that's no longer concern, even yet it quite is coaching.

The situation would have to get much worse then it is now to have a significant effect on the US. All indications are that the reactor containment vessel is still intact and there hasn't been a meltdown. There have been small radiation releases that would be a concern to people near the reactor, but nothing big enough to effect the US. Remember that unlike Chernobyl in Russia, these are much more modern and safer reactors designed to limit release of radiation even if there is a meltdown.

I'm worried about it effecting the ocean... it won't directly hit California like that photoshopped picture being circulated around said, though.
Here's the link to a map that details how far the Chernobyl radiation went. Notice the jet stream didn't have to travel thousands of miles eastward like it would have to if the plant does indeed meltdown.
Again, i don't know what will happen to our oceans :/
Pray that it doesn't and for those who are around...

Yes everyone in America will become ghoulified...
In actuality, as of yet there's barely been an effect on the surrounding area, even if the reactor explodes and it leads to a chenobyl like event it'll just form into a readioactive cloud which will disperse in the middle of the ocean

If it does it does. No stopping it now. So go on everyday like you should and not worry about what could happen. Worry about how you will make the best of your life. That's just me I live in Tucson and people a freaking out. Whatever happens happens. It happens for a reason

It won't hit the East Coast but certainly probably Alaska or Oregon.

Ian, I saw that sick map too and got really upset...I live in Tucson. My friend (pretty bright guy, parapolitical investigator) immediately told me that map is a hoax. I feel better. a little. crazy times.
